Cervical Ectopy... anyone else had this?

I have just been discharged after having treatment for a cervical ectopy..... apparently it is common in teenage girls and women after having a child and is something to do with hormones changing. An interefering friend said it was from using my 'Rabbit' too much but I was told it had nothing to do with this. ANyone had one or know anything about it???

this is nothing to do with using your rabbit!! ITs a perfectly normal state and basically means that cells that are normally on the inside of the cervix migrate down over the outside. they are very red, bleed very easily because they are not meant to be on the outside but over time they change to become the same as the cells on the outside of the cervix. I assume you had some cautery or laser therapy for bleeding??

Yeah did you have it done because it kept bleeding though? If so don't worry keep enjoying your rabbit friend!!

NO ... didnt really bleed just had sort of thrush symptoms and they couldnt get an addequate smear test result.

Is that the same as a cervical erosion? I've got one at the moment but GP said they don't recommend treatment unless they get multiple 'unreadable' (for want of a better word) smears - had one too about 10 yrs ago and had colposcopy and diathermy. Ugh.

yeh i think it is. i had 3 inadequate smears and had it treated but now its fine thank goodness..... didnt realise how rubbish it had been making me feel.

Millie1 - can I ask you more about cervical erosion?

sorry for hi-jack. sort of self-diagnosed myself with cervical erosion through MN some time ago as very frequent periods. At recent visit to Dr, she favours polycystic ovaries and I am keen to find out more about 'options' given that gynae referral appt likely to be 6/8 wks away.

What symptoms, if any, did you have? Any effect on fertility? moods/libido? etc?! The treatments you mention (other than sounding - ugh!|) what do you know about them?
