So the lump in my breast is sadly not a figment of my imagination.

i have been putting off going to the doctors about it, i cancelled appt twice then went and told her about other stuff instead
so i went yesterday, and she said yes there is a lump which is suspicious and neat?, now i am liking the neat bit but not really keen on suspicious.
so i have been refered to the hospital where steve had all his treatment, i will get an appointment within 2 weeks.
it is going to be a long two weeks i think.
does anyone know how long i will have to then wait for the results of the tests, will they tell me straight away?

I hope you are alright, OJ. When I went to the Breast Clinic, all my results were inconclusive for about 2 years. I hope you feel better from your op soon, and thinking of you for Thurs.

Tn0g · 18/11/2008 08:55

i am not to sore today and i keep forgetting the no lifting thing, so it can't be too bad.

OP posts:
LilRedWG · 18/11/2008 10:57

Try to remember not to lift things - the last thing you want is your stitches popping! DH has a couple of stitches pop on his arm, it wasn't pretty.

CatIsSleepy · 18/11/2008 10:58

OJ I had exactly this at this time last year. Went to Nottingham Hospital and they were great. Had had the lump for a couple of months and had it checked twice by two different doctors, each of which told me it was a figment of my imagination!!! so I changed gps, they referred me immediately to the hospital, had three samples taken by biopsy and 48 hours later went back for the results which were fine. I spent the time in between panicking like mad though so i know how you feel but try to remember that about most lumps biposied are nothing to worry about and it is a good sign that it is neat (I think that the main concern is with lumps that have jagged edges) Good luck for tomorrow.

onlyjoking9329 · 18/11/2008 14:43

thankyou for your kind messages and encouraging words, worrybum, i think we should do a name swop
i know neat is good.nurse also said mine is not fixed which is also good. my last two lumps were fybroids and they just drew fluid off those for testing which makes me think this is some how different, what did yours turn out to be worrybum?
i am just worrying more than i should cos we have lived with cancer in our lives so much recently plus we were told first off that steves tumour was slow growing and not likely to be cancer, how very wrong they were, thou they did admit when i questioned them that someone "may" have got it wrong it has made me a little distrustful of doctors, but i am sure it will be fine.

I can't remember the exact name of it OJ, a fibrothingymajig is the medical term I use!! I know it began with 'fibro', I just remember that I was so worried when they couldn't confirm that all was okay from the ultrasound and had to do a biopsy, I went into a blind panic and the next 2 days were a bit of a blur until I heard the word benign. They said that they would just leave it alone if that was okay with me but to go back if I had any more problems with it. i think because sometimes they can get bigger and cause pain?!?!? I know you've had a bad time of things lately, I posted a few times on your threads, and I know how worrying this scenario can be so I just wanted to try and offer you a bit of reasurrance. The outcome is more likely to be okay then not IYSWIM and I've just re- read your op and you say that you've had these sort of lumps before - apparently some women are prone to them.

pinkfrog · 18/11/2008 15:07

Good luck OJ - hope everything is good for you with your results....will be thinking about you

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 18/11/2008 15:13

Oh no OJ. I can't believe this, it's ridiculous!

Can offer nothing you don't already know but hugs anyway.

Souldnt worry? who on earth wouldnt worry without all youve been to? No shoulds or shouldnt, just feel as you do and thats OK

Jackstini · 18/11/2008 15:18

Just seen this OJ - what a bugger.
Keeping my fingers crossed for your results on Thurs (and you too Norks for Monday)

charleymouse · 18/11/2008 15:30

Hope you are feeling better soon OJ. I had an ultrasound the same day as my consultant apt and then a biopsy when lump was visible to the scan almost 4 years ago and had to wait 48 hours for results. Think it is standard practice to allow them to do whatever they do.

Sending you much love it is quite sore isn't it.

onlyjoking9329 · 18/11/2008 23:38

someone told me they put the samples in wax then freeze them and thinly slice them.

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 19/11/2008 09:34

OJ - some years ago I found a lump - had fluid sampled - went back for results 2 weeks (yes, that's 2 weeks!) later - results inconclusive - repeat this another 2x... then they said they'd have to remove it - had the results from that a week later - by then it was just a 'very inflamed' lump of tissue - nothing to be concerned about. So, even if its not a simple case of drawing fluid off to test, its not necessarily bad news.

Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow.

worrybum · 19/11/2008 10:01

same here OJ, it wasn't fluid that they took from mine but tissue samples as lump was/is solid. Hope all is good news for you later

Norksinmywaistband · 19/11/2008 17:47

In case I don't get on here later, I just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you tomorrow OJ.
