Why has my tummy button popped out again?

Is it cos I is too fat? - I'm a bit over, weigh the same now as I did when 12 weeks pg (feel enormous though, and as though I'm getting fatter despite best some diet-y efforts).

or is it something to do with post-pg tummy muscles being weak as??

more I try to hold tummy muscles in, more my previously deep inny, becomes an outie!

Ime the fatter you get the more innie you become because of the folds prevent bellybutton seeing daylight. I managed two pregs without an outie by progressive weight gain and was so proud when I got an outie on the third. Sounds like you might have a hernia from the muscles not joining back yet.

PsychoGuyFawkesMum · 03/11/2008 21:41

sounds like it could be a hernia to me too.

phdlife · 03/11/2008 21:44

ew! should I take it to doc's then?

When was baby born? Perhaps give your body a chance to repair itself first?

phdlife · 03/11/2008 22:24

baby is 18m, ohIdolike

it went in after he was born, but now it's out again!

I had a hernia and it could be that but there's a way of telling. Cup your hand over the area and cough - does it become pronounced (and/or sore)? If so, it's probably an umbilical hernia.

Much more likely though you have crap tummy muscles now - mine were great after baby number 1 but now they are rubbish

phdlife · 03/11/2008 22:26

cripes - just measured - tummy is now 95cms around, it was only 91 at... can't remember! - start of october?

Seriously, I can't be getting that fat, that quick, can I??? I eat a lot, but it's mostly healthy... [worried]

If it is a hernia it will get bigger till you have it surgically repaired - they don't spontaneously heal. I had an incisional hernia after DS's birth a few months ago. They are normally quite painful and if untreated can be dangerous as they can become strangulated.

phdlife · 03/11/2008 22:35

is hernia just the bit poking through belly button? or is it reason I am ballooning? No pain at all, anywhere.

oops sirry didn't see your 22:25 post.

doesn't noticeably get bigger and def doesn't hurt.

Good, hernia surgery is fucking painful. If it doesn't hurt, you are probably just a bit fatter than you were.

Try lying on the floor and raising your head and shoulders off the ground - do you get a central panel of muscles coming up? If so you can probably fix it with just exercise, if not, you need to stop eat more horrid green things than nice brown things.

BTW it can be caused by bloated bowels - does it deflate after you poo or fart a lot?
