.....and I am now on mepradec for the next month and will then be being referred for investigations if it comes back once I stop.

tis either gastric reflux disease, or maybe an ulcer.

or......could all just be stress...not surprising really with all everything going on with me right now!

oh, slightly uncomfortable.......he asked me if I take supplements etc, and I said that I take vitamins and St. Johns Wort. he asked me why the St.Johns wort.........how do I explain that without sounding insane......he said he knows that many women take it instead of coming and asking for AD's......am I in need....was very hard that bit.

hey ho, am seeing him in just over a month to see how the heartburn meds go, and guess we will see.

oh, and to add to the slightly insane issue.......completely mixed up my smear dates. was this morning, and I rang the surgery this morning asking about my appointments this week, and still forgot to go.

I think he thinks my mind is melting!

Loads of places do mineral stuff now.
Body Shop, Boots, Avon.

I reckon Body shop might be your best bet.

Heartburn could be caused by something as simple as stress. Did it start when you were undergoing any particular type of stress? The mepradec will give your stomach time to heal.

I've been suffering with severe stomach pains for 2 years which I have had numerous tests and it appears it's just one of those things which apparently is quite common. I started off taking omeprazole and now am on esomerazole.

The trick is to recognise what also makes it worse, which can be really simple things like eating late at night or too much spicy food.

I would check the interaction of mepradec with the st johns wort - it can decrease the absorption of certain medicines.

PsychoGuyFawkesMum · 03/11/2008 21:30

auntmaggie.......the doc already did that. he is very good......even if I did feel uncomfortable telling him why I thought I needed it. apparently there are no contra-indications.

there seems to be no pattern.....I wake with it, it stays all day, and go to sleep with it. I also have a constant gnawing hunger pain too all day.....and that is made worse when I take painkillers of any kind, so I now am trying to ride thro my leg pain I still suffer from because of the car accident.

argh, it sounds as tho I am falling apart doesn;t it.....I am not, really I am not. I can;t, the children and DH need me too much!

still no acid and I've had 2 cups of tea and some toast. This is amazing! Good luck with you as well. you feeling tiwtchy thinking you should be reaching for the antacidss?

AuntieMaggie · 04/11/2008 11:35

Hope you don't have any heartburn today

Try eating smaller meals if you eat large meals usually and eat about 3 hours before going to bed.

Also plenty of water.

There's loads about heartburn on the internet about which foods can aggravate it, but if you simplify your diet you can usually work out the triggers yourself. I can only have one spicy meal in a day otherwise i suffer in the evening.

Another thing is to make sure what ever tablets you're taking are taken with plenty of water to make sure they're absorbed properly.

Interestingly enough I just googled the side effects of st johns wort and the side effects can include gastrointestinal symptoms. Maybe worth re-checking the instructions on how to take them and make sure you take them with plenty of water.

Sorry to hear of the heartburn Psychomum, crap isn't it? Mine is pregnancy related atm.

I have had an ulcer before through extreme stress and was quite ill, so I know how rubbish it can be. Had it diagnosed through that blood test for helicobacter pylori, I think it's called. The pain is just awful.

I used to take Vit E for the PMT, it helped me loads. It has the added side effect of regulating my cycle to perfection which has resulted in 3 pregnancies so far, so maybe we won't recommend it

Take care x

PsychoGuyFawkesMum · 05/11/2008 16:01

hey sorky.......eek about the ulcer, am hoping desperately mine is not that. Oh, and as for pregnancy.......nope, won;t happen to me unless it is a true honets-to-god miracle. DH has had snip, I also have mirena coil (for endo issues)....truly, would be a miracle.

ok, day 3 on the tabs, and no hearburn.

and no reflux either........woohooo!
