Foreskins - sorry!

So I've just been told by a friend (whose husband is surgeon, so you'd think they'd know) that I should be stretching my two-year old's foreskin on a daily basis - ie pulling it down in the bath so that it won't be too tight later. I can't believe this can be the case - surely I would know - gp/ health visitor/ some health professional would have told me - but tis true that later circumsion for boys whose foreskins are too tight seems to be quite common (both my nephews as one example). Obviously I think this is a job for dh but he's still quite peed off that we didn't get ds circumsised and says it's my job - which i guess it is as he's never around at bath time anyway.

But is it really necessary - is anyone else doing it? Am a bit squeamish about the whole thing tbh.

I was told this too by a god friend when I had my first son (now nearly 5), and after having three girls already, the thought of a willy terrified me .

I didn't stretch his, altho he plays with his constantly so probably stretched it himself well enough anyhow!!!! His now comes back well, altho still not all the way (which I think is normal for his age).

Now my 2yr old on the otherhand has no interest in his willy and his foreskin does look too tight, in comparison to how his brothers was at that age, so I do wnder now whether I should be doing anything to help...BUT....still shudder at the thought so will be leaving it to daddy, as he does have experience in that area !

that should say good by the way, altho I am sure she will be delighted to be liked to GOD

DH asked me to ask the HV about this, she said no, under no circs to touch it, it might to lead to infection. DS plays with it a lot now anyway, he went through a stage of tugging it so much that it looked sore and I was worried but it seems fine now.

Leave it alone.

Link number one , two , and three .

psychomum5 · 11/03/2005 11:37

StuartC....thankyou for those links. Maybe you should put the third up on the erection advice thread...will reassure the mums there too.

Now know to leave him alone to his own devices!!

nailpolish · 11/03/2005 11:37

Nailpolish - I do have a sister, but I doubt that she'd be on here... (don't think she plays on the internet)
If you need to know, give me a single fact about yourself and I'll probably be able to set your mind at rest immediately (meanwhile I'll just search for things you've posted in the past...)

nailpolish · 11/03/2005 11:52

my first name is debbie

StuartC · 11/03/2005 11:55

Sorry Debbie, we're not related. (Do I hear a big sigh of relief?)

nailpolish · 11/03/2005 11:57

no not really, you sound just like my bro and i wouldnt have been surprised! i would have found it hilarious! speak to you later!

nailpolish · 11/03/2005 11:59

are you sure? you sound so like him (in a manner of writing)

StuartC · 11/03/2005 12:11

I'm pretty sure that my sister's name isn't Debbie. Some personal detail - I'm twice divorced, now living over the brush, and having the best time of my life. If this fits the bill for your brother, then maybe dad had a pushbike that I never knew about...

nailpolish · 11/03/2005 12:13

hmm, i just think maybe you were hiding

oh well

nailpolish · 11/03/2005 12:14
