sick toddler/work dilemma URGENT

dd1 has just been sick all over the couch, went white, lay down and fell asleep, so ive put her to bed. im supposed to be working tonight, therefore dd1 and 2 are supposed to be going to the childminders after my nighshift.

i need to call in and say i cant work before 4pm, i dont know what to do

i think she might have got something from the cm's daughter who was off sick recently with a flu type thingy, but im not sure

Call in to work and say that you are sick and so can't make it. Always more sympathetically received ime than admitting that your child is sick (usually met with barely contained frustration and annoyance from my boss)

dh says it could be a one off spew, she will be fine when she wakes but i dont think ill have time to see how she is after she wakes before 4

do i just take a chance shell be ok, or do i take the night off, i dont get paid if i dont go in you see (although that isnt the point)

I always fessed up and said my child is vomiting, the childminder/nursery.sitter will not take my sick child, nor can i leave me sick child.
They employ parents, this is what happens
I nearly lost my job once when ds had chick pox, followed by gastric flu followed by ear infection.
No way was I leaving him
But if your work situation is less biddable then as hmc says you're sick...

i work nightshift, i couldnt sleep if they were in the house and i hardly know my neighbours, theres no one who could babysit, dh is already off tomorrow cos hes taking his dad into hospital for an op

if it is from the cm's daughter, i dont want dd2 to get it, although she might get it from dd1, but thats unavoidable

cm is happy to take them, but im not happy for them to go, IYSWIM?

in my expereince, mothers who are returning from mat leave usually end up off ill within the first few weeks anyway - one of those sods law things - personally, I would call in sick, rather than saying your dd is sick. OR how about you ring your childminder and ask her? If she is happy to take a chance then go to work?

i have decided sort of, but i will miss the money, and i could do extra hrs on friday night and i hate working fridays

the cm is always happy to take them, thats just the sort of person she is, never says no, but i just think also if dd1 is feeling under the weather, she would rather be in her own house too

why dont employers ever believe you when you call in sick? you end up apologising and it annoys me

by the way, I hope your dd feels better soon.

know what you mean about calling in, I usually email my boss these days (thank goodness for blackberries!)
