Periods and taking the pill....

Have been taking the pill for 8 years since the birth on DS2 with no problems. Now have noticed am still bleeding after the day my period is usually finished and even 7 days after I have started a new packed of pills. This month I have had a period for 11 days and still not finished.

I am 45, could it be the start of the change or something more worrying?

it could be a sign that you need your pill re evaluated. as your age changes, your hormone levels will change also. depending on what pill you take, it may mean that your pill is causing too much progesterone in your body, or it could be that your oestrogen levels are declining. worth seeing your GP and if you are worried, get a female hormone check blood test done to see if this is the onset of menopause or if it is just that your pill no longer agrees with you.

Misi thanks for your advice as was getting a little worried - sister died of ovarian cancer. Will see the GP for further advice.
