Post natal bleeding or period?

I bled for 6 weeks with DS2 and an hour ago I saw I was bleeding again - now 8 weeks. Is this still post natal bleeding or a period? I didn't have one for 6-9 months with DS1 so it's abit of a shock! Although DS does sleep alot at night so can go up to 6 hours already without a feed which I guess can affect it... Does this mean I cannot use BFing as a (relaxed) contracepive? Thanks

you need a contraceptive with asan 8 weeks old

the sheer presense of my 6 week old is concraceptive enough

It's stopped now, seems it was just one 'little' bleed...

I bleed for over 10 weeks and had a section so they sucked most of it out.

the word should be 'bled'

Sounds like a period.

I personally would advise relying on BFing as contraception, unless you are prepared for a potential 'failure'. For it to be even reasonably reliable, you need to be doing at least 8 feeds/day with no more than a 4 hour gap between feeds.

Get yourself sorted with some contraception before you start feeling frisky.

Mine did this, bled for 6 weeks, stopped then started again at 8 wks and sort of limped on til 10wks. Then my periods restarted at 4 months. Majorly p'd off as was exclusivly bfing every 2 hours and expressing.
