Someone told me once to get a good night's sleep and take the homeopathic remedy Silcea for a day or two, and it's worked for me every time! You never know ...

Tinkerisdead · 22/10/2008 19:58

i use stuff called adcortyl in orabase from over the counter in chemist. it sticks like glue to the ulcer and is sooo relieving

nickytwoooohtimes · 22/10/2008 19:58

second the doctorswife, adcortyl in orabase seems to be the only stuff that works - feels a bit odd in your mouth though, but worth it because the ulcer definitely heals faster.

southeastastra · 22/10/2008 20:00

neat whisky

hambo · 22/10/2008 20:02

Use Theramed toothpaste and you will never get another ulcer - it is great....from Superdrug.

I have suffered since a child a swear but washing my mouth out with warm salt water. If I keep getting them week after week from being run down I take a supplement called L-Lysine. Stay away from sweets and sugary things and use Sensodyne toothpaste as it has no SLS in it

Salleroo · 22/10/2008 22:26

Orabase is the business, dry the ulcer, dab it on and it should be gone in the morning. Strange texture but so worth it.

Have you noticed you get them from a particular food? I cant eat peanuts or tomatoes at all, until I forget how bad the pain can be and have a pizza .

I also get coldsores in my mouth, adcortyl not good for those, irritates them but you can put zovirax on those and l-lysine great to stop these in their tracks.

Take some Vit C as well for healing.

Corsodyl mouthwash, takes the sting out of the ulcer immediately and they clear up quicker but I am going to look into this Orabase stuff too as the corsodyl is better for just before bed use as during the day it prevents you from tasting anything
