Im very curious to weather there could be a link between gbs and autism? i Lost a little bot to gbs in 1999 and didnt realise i had it untill i fell pregnant with my youngest son where they told me i was a carrier of gbs and thats why i lost my son before.my 2nd son who was born in 1997 was born pre term at 36weeks i had ruptured membranes and my waters went and i went into prem labour,he has now got autism and has been like it since birth, my youngest son has also got a diagnosis of autism, i have not mentioned my oldest son all tho he is ungoing tests to see weather he has adhd which i also belive is a form of autism? As so many women dont know they have gbs and there is still no reason to what causes autism could there be a link? Its just a thought but can we ignore the fact that there could be a link? donnax pointy!

By gbs, do you mean Guillaine-Barre syndrome? (pls excuse spelling) I've heard that is thought to be an autoimmune disorder, as some suggest autism is. I'm no expert, though, although it is an area I'm interested in.

Sorry, was in a rush, but meant to say as well, I was so sorry to hear about your little boy, pointy. I can't imagine how dreadful something like that must be.

Pointy, I can't imagine a link, but I am very, very sorry about your children. BTW there was an excellent thread on Group B Strep (which is what I assume you are talking about) not long ago, which you might want to look at. Just type in Group B strep into the search facility and it will come up.

Sorry, pointy ? of course you were talking about Group B Strep ? my misunderstanding. Please disregard my earlier post!

pointy- my ds1 is autistic- have a look at Paul Shattock's stuff at the autism research unit in Sunderland (you can find via google or the mmr thread). He's a very nice man - worth contacting.
