Tender breast

posted this in chat but actually worrying more so thought would post here as well

I normally have no menstrual symptoms at all and often come on without warning, light periods and no breat tenderness.

However for the last 3 weeks my right breast has been really tender to touch - the only other time it was like this was in the early days of PG and during engorgement.

I am also feeling a bit run down at the moment.

So assuming I am not Pg and seeing as DH had the snip and all clear 6 months ago, this would be miraculous

Is it age or should I be more concerned

Tis the left breast with me. No previous menstrual symptoms in my 32 years but now tenderness and sometimes lumpiness the week before I'm due.

I got it checked out with GP who says lessening intake of caffeine should help.

Go to GP to put your mind at rest.

Thanks for the reply, I don't drink caffine so its nnot that and its been tender for 3 weeks

Yeah, I only drink about three cups of tea a weekday, one a day at weekends. I think it is their stock answer.

The tenderness does ease with me when cycle starts.

No harm in going to GP - I see it as taking ownership for one's health to get things checked out. I say that only if you are worried about 'bothering' GP about such an ailment.

Norksinmywaistband - I have exactly the same as you describe! Wonder what the outcome was? Not sure if you will get this msg but wld love to know as a bit concerned. DD, 5, leans against me there at story time some nights and shoulders into me to get comfy so wonder if just bruised. Will go to GP in any case to check it out. Had about 6 wks ago for a couple of weeks, was careful how I sat at night with her and it went but has come back recently. Hope all's well with you.

Danceaway - Things have kind of escalated with me, I saw gp who said that he was going to refer me to breast clinic as breasts felt lumpy. On scanning a lump was found and biopsied( told it was a cyst that would probably disappear in 3 months) Review appointment last week the thing has grown, so a larger biopsy was taken, and am currently awaiting results.

IMO if symptoms last beyond one cycle, se your GP, better safe than sorry

Thanks Norks and I really hope all's well with you. I have an appointment tomorrow with the GP. Fingers crossed he will tell me all's fine but agree it's better to know. I will let you know how I get on...

Humph - appoiment on NHS in 3 wks!! Thought they'd speeded things up a bit! Ah well. Pain has gone - sure must be period related - will be painful around then again anyway so perhaps will make me feel less like am wasting country's resources.
