(Not sure where to put this, really). My much-beloved grandmother is registered blind and her sight has deteriorated really badly s.t. she can no longer do crosswords or read books even when we photocopy them really big. She has books on CD and listens to a bit of radio and telly, but is fundamentally bored rigid (not helped by being physically too infirm to leave the house unaccompanied, to walk more than a hundred yards or so, and being hundreds of miles from all close family.) Speaking to her tonight we both wondered whether she might learn braille. I might ring the RNIB in the morning but just wondered whether any wise mumsnetters knew if it was feasible and if so how to go about it?
