Had cystitus for just over a week now, on 4 x 50mg macrodantin now for four days and there is no improvement.

I'm drinking 2 cartons of cranberry juice a day as well as loads of water, does anyone have any advice, I could seriously cry with this, it's sooooooooo painful.

Get another dose. I needed 2 to zap it last time

Go back to your doctor, take a sample if you didn't provide one last time.

I think they are changing the medication for cystitis. I used to have an old fashioned antibiotic which used to knock it on the head after one or tow doses. Last time I had it, the GP said that it was old fashioned and too strong and gave me something else. It took 2-3 days for the pain to go and the a/bs made me feel terrible for about 2 weeks. You need to go back.

Go back to the GP and get a different antibiotic. Trimethoprim is a standard one, but there's one beginning with C they use for cases that are resistant.
Getting a sample analysed if that hasn't been done is a good idea.
