Chronic sinusitis, has anyone ever heard of a cure other than surgery?

It is driving me insane. At this stage I have a horrible pain in my face more often than I don't
I have a referral to see a ENT consultant and I am just scared that he is going to suggest surgery. I know it is a terribly painful type of surgery and I know it is not always effective.
I have a whole range of other symptoms too such as tinnitus, hearing loss, vertigo and it is driving me mad.
Does anyone know of any success stories to give me some hope?

I had surgery 15 years ago. It wasn't that bad and I've barely had any problems since. Just to give another side to the story!

Sinurinse by NeilMed is the only product that has worked for me. I was on antibiotics, nasal steroids etc. Ent said I could have an operation, but could not guarantee that the symptoms wouldn't come back. Tried a few nasal rinses they wasn't much cop the only thing that has relieved my symptoms is the product I named above x

South

I do get this and had'nt realisd it was related!

I had the worst sinus pain ever last night and painkillers would'nt touch it - ended up putting a heated beanie bag on my head/nose for 10 minutues and the pain went away!

I am so fed up of taking anti - biotics and worried about the effect on my baby and me that I have started using a nasal rinse and I have ordered a steamer/peppermint oil and nettle tea.

If I were you i'd ask for an MRI scan. My friend has had lots of sinus and ear problems and even had grommets put in her ears on the nhs. She recently went to Bupa to have her tonsils removed and went back with her sinus problem too. They gave her an MRI scan and it turns out she has a benign cyst thing which has been causing all the trouble and will be removed with surgery if the NHS had scanned her she wouldn't have needed the grommets!

I also suffer from sinus problems but that is because I have one sinus that is smaller than the other. I sympathise with your pain.
