Going to have it taken out on Tuesday next week.
Since having it almost 18 months ago I've gained 2 stones or more, have awful mood swings and heavy periods. No one else I know who has the Mirena has a problem with it. I've had enough though. Haven't told Dp yet and I guess that'll put paid to any small chance of a sex life I may have had with him.
Don't want to have the injections or implants as I might as well leave the IUD in as have those and I'm too old for the pill(I always lost weight on the pill). P'd off really.
Don't even know why I'm writing this down really...

Asicsgirl, what a lovely gp! Don't suppose she was called Caroline, perchance? I had an equally lovely GP by that name who put mine in .

Well! I'm back from my appointment to remove my Mirena and guess what? She couldn't find the bloody threads, despite her best digging techniques. I have to wait now and go for a scan to see where it is if it's still there. Tbh, I hope it's fallen out by itself, at least then, I don't have to worry about them taking it out for me...but what I want to know is this; How can it have fallen out without me knowing it has ~ if indeed it has fallen out? anyone had this happen to them?

Thank you GM, I actually didn't see your posts re the combined pill until just now and wasn't aware that it could reduce/stop milk supply until the nurse mentioned it. She though, said that it would stop my supply. I only intended to bf for 18 months, but the longer it goes on, the more I want it to continue(just the before bed time feed). I did get really fed up with it when Dd was ill recently and was on me all the time, but the thought of stopping now... I don't want to...but if it goes when I start the pill, so be it.
Nurse said my BMI is about 28 and my BP is ok.
My maternal family side has/has had hypertension, strokes(Grandma, Mum and several Aunts)and just recently, I discovered that we do have serious problems in the Bp area in my family, so I guess I'm lucky so far.

Solo, I don't know if you have read Kellymom about contraception and milk supply

It is much as the same as Green Monkies posted. I guess you could give it a go and if your LO doesn't like the drop in supply then you could try something else.

Thank you mawbroon, I'll look through that tonight
