my ds (10)had a bump to his nose at 4.00pm ish, and has lost part of his two lower teeth as well. Dentist appt made for monday for this. I am concerned though now his nose is still bleeding, not gushing but a bit drippy (!) from both sides but more one than the other. it is swollen and tender across bridge but i would not say it is broken. I have just shone torch up and he has a swelling on left outside that looks like it has a small hole in it, where the blood id coming from, but not sure if this bit of the nose is always there anyway! I said to dh we should take him to casualty, but he is saying 'it will be ok' (as they do!). am I being neurotic do you think?

its more than likely some ruptured vessels but as hes been bleeding for a substantial amount of time i would consider a+e or do you have a local minor injuries centre? nhs direct would advised more thoroughly1!!

I'd talk to NHS direct, and maybe ice it in the interim to help it close up?

Don't tilt his head backwards. Poor chap - hope he's on the mend soon.

thanks for all your messages. I decided I would wait and see what he was like today, as the bleeding had almost stopped by bedtime. I was more cross though that he has broken his teeth. We are at the dentist on Mon, and they have said they will try to build them up as long as it doesn't go black.
