While breastfeeding, did you put on weight or lose it?

I've just been reading the thread in site stuff about weight gain (or lack of) in pregnancy.

It got me thinking about myself, and particularly that I didn't put much weight on at all when I was pregnant but tend to put more weight on during breastfeeding, and don't lose it all until I have stopped.

What have your experiences been? And if you put weight on during bf is it possibly because of how hungry it makes you and eating the wrong things?

I put on nearly 3 stone whilst preg with both of mine and lost it all plus a stone by the time they were 9 months. I regained that stone within a couple of moths of stopping feeding. (except to gain it again straight away with my first being pregnant )

Have no idea what weight I gained in either pg

But by the time the baby was 6m old I had dropped 2 dress sizes (lost A LOT then plateaued)

Before dds I was a 14 (sometimes 16)

Am now 12 (sometimes 10)

i have lost weight while bf both times. not huge amounts - i don't seem to put much on when pg - but back into pre-preg clothes pretty quickly. and eat like horse when bf. i have v hungry babies tho! and with ds1 stress was def part of the equation...

gained with dd, when i stopped it fell it off
am feeding ds and am fat, trying so hard to loose it as i want to bf for a while but feel crap

I put on quite a lot with both pregnancies and didnt loose much whilst bf ds1, but with bf ds2 it is dropping off, possibly because i have a 2 year old to run around after aswell as bf baby!

During pg I tend to have neat bumps and get fitter - baby eats my meals and I eat my excess body fat.
I'm breastfeeding for the first time (3rd baby though) and must be at or below my pre-preg weight already at 6wks (getting weighed on Thurs at checkup). Mind you 90mins schoolrun a day might have something to do with it but I'm definitely feeling the calorie pinch. Can't really complain except that I need a whole new wardrobe and finding BF tops that aren't hideously unflattering is proving v hard.
