I have been unwell for the last week, nothing too serious, just achey and sore throat, I took the week off work as this week coming is more important and I wanted to rest so I was better this week, try to stop it becoming worse (it did feel flu like, you know the beginning, mainly achey but not horrendous)

On Friday I felt a bit better, then friday evening my throat became very sore, then yesterday I felt very unwell, and in the middle of the night/early this morning I woke with a fever, felt so so awful skin crawling.

Now, my throat is raw, I have 4 large yellow spots/lumps on the back of my throat and the dangly bit (is that the tonsil? i never remember), my muscles feel like I have run 10 miles, I have a stinking headache, my ears hurt, my stomach hurts.

And I have to go to work tomorrow.

So I am feeling sorry for myself. Any suggestions on how to make myself look/feel a bit more human and with less of a voice that sounds like Sonia from Eastenders as I am running a training course tomorrow for criminals. It is going to be a tough 4 hours, let alone feeling crap too.

[sad[

Bananas I found to be OK.
Ice cream.
Custard and jelly.
Soup (as thick as poss, so really like a light puree). Less swallowing for more gain.

I am guilty of having in the past thought "poor diddums, a sore throat".

And then I got tonsillitis for the first time 2 years ago and my goodness, have never felt so ill. Worse than childbirth because just relentless for a week with no good bits.

Chloraspetics OK. Also soluble paracetomol.

Sleep sleep sleep. Some good books/DVDs for when all sleeped out. And try not to do too much too quickly. I found the first time, that it took me a while to be at peak strength when all the symptoms had cleared, was truly post-viral. But an annitversary weekend sounds like a great way to relax some more!

Ds is like this today(started yesterday), I just thought it was the flu though as he is all aches and pains. Temp has gone down though.

Thanks for posting this as I now realise what he has wrong! Tonsilitis!!!

Pavlov - I always get that reaction from the doctors as well!

I can recommend eating Chocolate, it melts in the mouth.

It should start getting better in 2 or 3 days.

Thanks everyone. I have just had a good 2 hour sleep. DH phoned and I said, 'I feel a little better, I sound better don't I?' and he said 'no, you don't, you sound awful'!! .

I feel ok as long as I don't swallow. I am going to make some soup. not the stuff from shops, but decent home made, will put some lentils in to make it really healthy,,I am craving tomatoes so will have lots of those in and I will split it and put meat sausages into half for DH and DD as some kind of sausage casserole. It will only take about 20 mins to prepare then all I have to do is stir on occasions for 45 mins, so hopefully won't take too much energy. That will be my only ambition for today, apart from buying some more ice cream.

I am very upset though, as my Best Friend had a baby on Friday, she herself has been poorly (nothing to do with me!) and so has the baby, so she has been unable to have visitors until today. I thought I would be fine to visit today, but I am not, and the Dr said probably not a god idea for a week yet .
