I'm confused about where to buy running shoes

Apparently I shouldn't just go to a sports shop, but to a running shop. What is a running shop? I want to get good running shoes. I live in central Leeds so shops aren't a problem.

Where should I go?

Don't know leeds, but it is true most sports shops like JJB SPorts etc are more just fashion shops. You could try places like that but advice might be crap, many assistants don't have a foggy, and trying to find proper running shoes can be a pain. If you know waht you are looking for it is easier as you know what styles are right. Most trainers in thses stores are fashion ones or more suited to aerobics or football.

I managed to get proper rugby boots for my son from one of the huge sports shops that does have proper gear for loads of sports.

I got my last ones from Reebok. And even the assistant told me I needed to go elsewhere for really good ones. (However there is nothing like that round here) . She was great as it happens - she was a runner herself and spent ages finding me the best pair.

sherunsheruns has just opened in Meadowhall - do you drive - 20 mins down M1 - Supposed to be good and have video analysis of the way you run to find the right shoe

I used the drop down on this website here and it shows you all the 'proper' running shops by region...

I'll post it on the new couch to 5k thread too...
