Bone Marrow Biopsy

I recently found a letter from the hospital addressed to a family member with a date for her to attend a bone marrow biopsy. She hasn?t mentioned it to me and I don?t want to ask her about it in case they don?t want to talk about it.

Just wondering if anyone knows what reasons they have for doing this? She has recently had a low blood count and unexplained weight loss with severe fatigue. These symptoms she?s shared with me.

p.s ? Try not to worry me too much he he

A bone marrow biopsy is often done when a haematological disorder is suspected. This can be many and varied conditions.

They will be looking to exclude conditions such as leukaemia and other blood-related disorders.
