Good girl! It will only take a few moments. Well done for getting it tested.

Lazarou · 08/09/2008 22:57

I've got one on wednesday.

ellideb · 08/09/2008 23:00

Why are you so nervous?

expatinscotland · 08/09/2008 23:01

let the nurse know you are nervous.

well done!

asicsgirl · 09/09/2008 09:45

i think about sex to relax everything 'down there'. don't know if it works but it takes my mind off it

RhinestoneCowgirl · 09/09/2008 09:49

The nurse will be used to women being nervous about smears - have you had one before.

Good on you for booking the appt, will be over and done with v quickly.

I find the waiting is the worst bit.
Once I'm there I sort of go into over drive and just let it all wash over me.
It's over and done with in such a short space of time and is really worth it for the peace of mind.

hugeASSets · 09/09/2008 11:11

Would rather have a smear than go to the Dentist!

Hope all's well.

Aw sweetie, I used to be like this. Listen, the anticipation is FAR worse than the event which will be over really fast. Tell them how you feel and they will be super kind. But well done you for getting it done in spite of your fear, as it's really important. I think we forget how lucky we are to have these screenings - they are a really positive thing. Think up a nice treat for afterwards!

PeppermintPatty · 09/09/2008 11:39

I had one last week. It was fine.

In fact I didn't feel a thing as DD was crying (I had to bring her with me, and she was upset that she couldn't see me as I was behind the curtain) and I was talking to her to try and calm her down.

You need to distract yourself somehow and it will be over before you realise...

Good luck

tortoiseshell · 09/09/2008 11:47

Hope it went ok. I had one this morning which I have put off and put off, haven't had one since 2001

It's not pleasant, but it's done now.

Lazarou · 09/09/2008 11:52

I can no longer feel 'the tool' as my flange is so bucket like after babies.

onlygirl · 09/09/2008 19:34
