For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'll join you for that nap, OB. Maybe DS could look after your DD? he's 4.5, and very responsible

After looking at our bank account this week I also need either to sell something on E-bay or invent lots of meals from a bag of lentils and a tin of toms.

Preferably before DH gets a chance to notice said state of bank account

OsmosisBanana · 24/09/2008 16:45

hmm. lentil loaf.

fullmoonfiend · 24/09/2008 17:04

Ahhh. PMT is not P any more, IYSWIM. It is such a relief. I have been vile-temepered.

I will post a pic of cake on my profile now.

fullmoonfiend · 24/09/2008 17:10

all my profile pix have disappreared somewhere! Into the ether!

OsmosisBanana · 24/09/2008 18:33

how odd. maybe someone reported your rudies??

TooTicky · 24/09/2008 18:49

OB, that pic of your dd standing on a wall - she looks just like you!!!!

fullmoonfiend · 24/09/2008 18:50

but surely MNHQ would have told me?
And only you lot could see them (I hope!!)

Pah! There's hours of my life I won't ever see again.

OsmosisBanana · 24/09/2008 19:02

only with better hair eh TooT?!

(It's actually an old grave not a wall - she likes to dance on the resting grounds of the dead mwah hah hah) t'was a wedding.

I have taken to wearing Alice bands such is the terrible in between-ness of my attempt to grow it.

I have put my foolish attempt to stop drinking behind me. Just for tonight. I am feeling sorry myself at my apparent old age / lack of RL friends. I shall be sensible though as have to be in Bath by 9 (ouch).

Maybe we'll do something useful, like meet people on our actual course / seminar group.

Oh someone give me a slap with a dead parrot or something, what on earth I think I have the right to whinge about god only knows.

OsmosisBanana · 24/09/2008 19:03

Might just be a glitch FMV? You should ask. They wouldn't take them down intentionally without telling you surely?

FrayedKnot · 24/09/2008 19:52

Fruit salad (I did buy lots of fruit this week, before I looked at bank account)

Heinz tomato soup from back of cupboard
A pear that DS brought me home from school (not sure he's supposed to but he took two and gave me one )

Pasta with tomato, courgette & aubergine sauce - all veg from garden

I also need to know what to plant now.

I have a little space and more in a week or so when I take the last courgette out.

FrayedKnot · 24/09/2008 19:53

Do you have two profiles FMV?

Never quite know how that works.

fullmoonfiend · 24/09/2008 19:58

no, my profile only appears under fullmoonfiend, as that is the name I set up it under.

pinkspottywellies · 24/09/2008 20:48

I have a nice chicken thigh recipe for the slow cooker. I'll post it next time I'm in the recipe book cupboard.

Had mucho salad for dinner with jacket potato and beans. Now I'm hungry again! Also picked blackberries (nearly all finished I think ) and had pear, apple, grapes and usual juice, raisins etc. No exercise. I'm trying to get someone to go swimming with me but can't coordinate!

Worked tonight and had coffee-mate for the first time. It's quite nice!

pinkspottywellies · 24/09/2008 20:49

Mrs C I loved your meal ideas post. I will write it down in my recipe folder.

pinkspottywellies · 24/09/2008 20:54

OsBa, I know what you mean about being nearly 2. DD had a tantrum with both me and dh today about not watching 'peppa pig on tv'! She also had a hissy fit about goign in her cot yesterday afternoon which ended with us both in tears And she has perfected the art of making NO a 2 syllable word 'No-wuh'. Also started saying 'don't like it' last week.

I fear I'm dealing with it very well. Although I did manage to distract today with stacking cups and hurridly-named Mega-Duck! who was being naughty and knocking over the cups that was after reasoning, other attempts at distraction, cuddling, ignoring.....

[exhausted] Work with Young Offender in children's home was a doddle

pinkspottywellies · 24/09/2008 20:56

Just me then? Have you all gone to bed?

I think too much chocolate gives me a headache and I got my head squashed in the car door tonight so I feel a bit sorry for myself.

Going to bed soon. Should really do washing up first.

Nah...

berolina · 24/09/2008 21:34

hello!

On a brief MN visit, probably 1 night only for the time being. I need the time away from it for all sorts of reasons, but I miss you and miss 10/10 - not reporting on here about my F&V consumption is making me undisciplined about it.

Sympathy and virtual stew for the cold and hard-up.

It was ds2's 1st birthday on Monday. I had to work on the day but we went out with ILs for coffee the day before and had some lovely parcels from friends and godparents and ds1 and I are going to make him a hedgehog cake at the weekend.

ds1's New Lovely Kindergarten needs new children or it will be in big financial trouble to the extent of possibly going under I can't believe it and tbh am a tiny bit cross that if they knew over half last year's children were starting school/moving house they should have started looking for replacements a little bit sooner. ds1 loves it so much there and I do not want to have to move him again for the second time within a few months.

OsmosisBanana · 24/09/2008 21:43

not alone PSW. am here just trying to drown myself unsuccessfully in scalding bath with glass of wine.

Am not pregnant just mad.

Bero! Nice to see you, to see you.... God I hate Bruce Forsyth.

I am magical. I was only talking about missing folk, such as you n stuffit n slur and i have magicked you all here!

Humour me - am unimpressed with student life thus far.

2 year olds suck. Am NOT handling it well. Have v short fuse myself, which gets shorter every day I find myself a parent. Very disappointing. I rather thought I would be a natural. SNort.

TooTicky · 24/09/2008 22:04

Oh Bero Bero Bero Bero Bero - I so desperately owe you a parcel!! The accumulated items stare at me accusingly from the shelf every time I pass. We've just had a scary not-able-to-pay-the-rent-bits-falling-off-car time but am hoping to post next week or the week after at the very latest.

TooTicky · 24/09/2008 22:06

OB, how can you say that? 2yos do not suck. Well not ime. 2 is one of the most glorious ages

TooTicky · 24/09/2008 22:07

Gwan, lend me your dd.....you know you want to....

TooTicky · 24/09/2008 22:09

Oh no Bero, hope the kindergarten survives!!

pinkspottywellies · 25/09/2008 08:13

Hi Bero lovely to see you hope the kindergarten holds up. It was such a big decision for you in the first place, hope you don't have to start again.

OsBa I was thinking about you when I went to bed last night! Try not to feel bad about uni. Freshers week is for 18 year olds who have just left home for the first time. They have a very different agenda to you! You will feel much more like you fit in when everything settles down and it's about the learning. Also don't worry about te netball. Yes the timings suck but you might find something else that has better timed sessions for you and in a few months you'll be watching the netballers freeze outside and saying 'thank god I didn't get roped into that!'. Anyway, lots of optimistic, it'll all be fine thoughts for you. Everything happens for a reason. Grin and bear all this settling in stuff and you'll be fine. Lots of hugs and positive thoughts for you.

pinkspottywellies · 25/09/2008 08:18

Oh and Morning all!

Nothing at all consumed so far. Will rectify immediately.

Guadalupe · 25/09/2008 08:23

DS1 was five and dd was nine months when I started art school and I don't think I went to anything in freshers week. I felt a bit glum that I couldn't join in anything for ages but then, like pink says, these students have just left home and this is as much about them settling down, making friends and living on their own as much as anything.

You're not going to have the same degree experience having already settled down, had babies, got married and experienced a wide and varied social life. Doesn't mean you won't enjoy the degree and have a laugh and go to the bar with everyone but in the main you're there because as usual, we find out what we really want to do later on rather than 18 and you'll work harder because you've got more invested in it and they'll look up to you and think you're intersting and you'll do well and meet lots of people and it will all be fabulous. You'll see.

I miss studying. I am thinking about going back.
