Have so much sympathy. Got preg with 1st dd when i was living out in Oman. Had terrible sickness and felt like i couldn't do a thing. The doctors out there though were totally unsympathetic and wouldn't give me a sick note to have any time off work. It was awful. I used to drag myself into work and people would say how awful i looked all the time. Was on a drip twice - both times at the weekend when i was off work and everyday at work i would sleep for an hour or so in the middle of the day. Didn't feel pregnant at all, just ill. There is nothing worse.
When i had my 2nd dd i just lay on the sofa alot and my sis used to come over and cook for me if DH was at work. I couldn't face even going into the kitchen. I guess i was lucky in that it didn't last too long. I was feeling better by 16 weeks with both, thankgoodness. Hope you start feeling better soon, the most important thing is rest and more rest.

Pruni - congratulations. I am so very pleased for you . Have I also picked up correctly that it is twins?

On the puking front I found lots of rest, constant carby grazing and fresh-air (I had the house like a bloody sanatorium all windows wide open)helped to keep the worst of things under control - but that was not proper hyperemesis so may be of no help to you at all!

Take care my dear.

oh no, much sympathy from someone else who had this

i found this helps:

do as little as possible

dont sit down if you could be lying down, etc

graze little and often

frequent sips of water

it is truly awful but 'this too will pass' as they say

hi guys, new to mumsnet. im almost 19weeks and still feel terrible. I have had 1 admission to hospital coz i got too dehydrated. since then managed to stay at home. Im on three different medicines to stop me being sick. well im not being sick allday everyday now and am keeping some food down, but like a lot of you i can't seem to shake this total exhaustion or nausea. I havent been back to work since the start of the pregnancy and although people say they sympathise I get the feeling they just dont have a clue. Get out for walks they say that will make you feel better...Pah! God i feel like such a moaner. i thought things were getting better a whole 4 weeks and no vomits(although felt ruff the entire time) and then yesterday it started again. i mean give me a break. so for all you guys going through this wonderful pregnancy stage like me you have my deapest sympathies and i hope it stops really soon for all of us.
