spots...what are they?

Ds has 3 spots - one on his face, one on his tummy and one on his hand. Look a bit like small boils - red with white head - but do not seem sore or itchy. All 3 came up today. Also has temp. and generally not feeling 100% - which may or may not be related. Any ideas?

Don't they spread quicker? Noticed them around lunchtime but no more have developed since.

My dd only had 5 spots in total. Knew they were chicken pox as ds had had them a week previous. he had quite a few more. Dd was affected so mildly.

coffebean, my dd got chicken pox when she was about 8 wk old, she had just 2 spots for ages!!! on very top of thigh but where her nappy lies and even showed the h.v she said it was where her nappy had rubbed!!! (clueless or what!?!?) they just looked like red spots but then went to a spot filled with clear fluid...thats chicken pox. within a few days she had a high temp and was absolutely covered, in her hair, her bits, everywhere, even had them in her mouth and throat and couldnt feed properly,i think its only when they burst and scab that they itch tbh.

when mine had chicken pox, they only started with 3 or 4 spots then about 3 days later, they were covered from head to toe.

I didn't take mine to the docs (not sure how old your ds is) because it was obvious by that stage what it was, but if you do decide to take him, warn them before you come in case there's anyone in the surgery who's immuno-compromised because if it is the pox, you could still be contagious!

he is 2 1/2 - If I do take him will phone docs in advance - didn't think of that but good advice. If it is chicken pox I hope he doesn't give it to ds2 - he is only 3 months.

if it's any consolation, my youngest nephew got it at that age (3 months) and he hardly suffered at all (unlike his big brother who was 2 at the time and had lots of itchy sleepless nights!).

bfeeding ds2 but stopped ds1 soon after ds2 born.

my sister was b'feeding her 3 month old when he got it from his bruv. However, the little one hardly had any spots and HV said afterwards she thought it was because my sis was b'feeding.

not sure how much immunity bfeeding gives - or how long it lasts after you stop?

I don't know and to be honest, I don't think many HV or docs know either
