Pre-DS absolutely! Any ailment and I was off (civil also) Post-DS - Ill? what's that??? even an early night would be a treat!

Not had a bad enough one in the last couple of years to justify it.

I tend to go in as like others work have started coming down hard on sickness levels - 3 times off sick in 6 months and they send you to occupational health
I hate it though because I work with the public and they look at you like you've got scurvy if you sneeze, cough, and generally look like shite near them
And my colleagues don't appreciate all being given cold either but we have to abide by the rules

I work with the public too - have you ever seen the looks they give someone who has a red blotchy rash all over.

My old company just applied a blanket policy in order to be "fair" to everyone. They were very careful around the DDA though.
