The pill - Will I get pregnant if...

I have just started taking the pill (2 weeks ago). I know that rather than having my period, I can continue taking the pill rather than having a week off, but will this affect the pill working? Or will I get pregnant?

If this is Ok to do, then could I stop taking the pill now for a week and get my period now...? Basically I dont want my period when it is due! But would this affect the action of the pill or might I get pregnant?

I know that it is probably risky to mess around with the pill after only being on it for a short time. Should I let my body get into some sort of cycle with it before doing anything? Will I get pregnant or will there be any other side effects>?

nobaby, are you me?!
I was on the combind pill & taken off by my doctors at Christmas when I suffered terrible migraines, was in hospital with one as I lost all the function down the right hand side of my body, total numbness, no feeling, no control, not able to speak. It was very scary.
The docs said there was an increased risk of stroke if I stayed on the combined pill, although only a small risk. But they were not happy to put me on the combind pill anylonger (in fact, the nurse at the doctors refused to deal with me, I had to go to the doctor for an assessment). I chose the mini pill (same as you have been given) over anything else as I do plan to have another child in the near future.
I have been on this pill since Jan. Its okay. I haven't had any further head issues (!) and dont really get periods at all now!! It can take a while for your body to settle, ie you may get bleeding at odd times, but I found my periods settled really quickly and now I dont get them.

Hi Elf! Sounds like we have very similar issues. ( but surely you would remember posting if I was you!)

Im going to wait a while before I start taking Cerazette just to see what happens (as long as I can control the pain of my periods). I dont need contraception at the moment, but am thinking the POP will be the best option for the future.

I am starting a new university course in september so I dont really want unpredictable bleeding etc just now. I will try fairly soon though as I doubt I will tolerate my natural periods very well!

I dont have any children yet. But I am still addicted to mumsnet!!
