Ovulation pains-who gets them?

Just wondering how many of you get pains in the middle of your cycle? Since i had my two dds (ages 2 and 3) I get terrible abdominal pains on days 13,14,15 of my cycle. Actually went to the doctor one month cos they were so bad but she told me it was very common and just to take normal painkillers. Good lord, what it is to be a woman!

yep. same here. I was previously diagnosed with cysts on my ovaries and wonder if this has had anything to do with it. It seems to be getting worse too.

I do! I googled it one time and it's got a german name and apparently is very common. Reading the literature suggests it makes no difference to fertility or such like. I used to worry until I did a random poll among friends and found in my not very rigorous research it was about 20%

Yes, I get them, too. I quite like it in a way, as I know exactly when I'm ovulating. Thousands of women spend money on special kits to find out when they are ovulating, and my body tells me quite clearly every month...

I occasionally get them, sometimes they can be painful but sometimes I don't even notice.

Omg. Me too and it's only since having my ds 10 months ago. I started marking it down on a calendar and it's always exactly 13 days before my next period. It's good in a way as I don't want to get pregnant again but bad because it's like having a mini period in the middle of your cycle. I wonder why it happens after you have kids though? Are you more in sync with your body?

Mine used to be so bad some months I could barely walk, but then that was the sae for periods too.

Turned out it was because I've got PCOS so I would always recommend to get it checked if it interferes with your life in any way.

I was recommended not to take coedine or any painkiller that has a tendancy to put pressure on the bowel and possibly constipate you, as this would in turn put pressure on the ovaries, but instead to take things like ibuprofen.

Yep I have them but only ever on one side. I don't think this means I only ovulate from one ovary, at least I hope not!

i started my period when 13 and started getting "popping" sensation when i was 15.

went to my doctor when i was 17 and got put on the pill and the pains went away so i came off the pill.

a few months ago the pain came back for one night. but nothing since.

Hmmm. Thanks AuntieMaggie. You know it's something I've been worrying about lately and wax thinking about posting, esp as I had a c-section and there's the fear there that something different has happened as I never had it before.

I get them, but only since I had ds. But then since I had him I have got period pains for the first time in my life and PMT.

It sucks.

Juneybean - I was on the pill for three months for a while after having ds (had to come it - bp probs) and now you mention it never had those pains then. But now consistently every month and really bad

I would definately go to your doc, had the pains continued with me, the doctor had intended to do an ultrasound to see if there was anything going on with my ovaries.

I had never (or so I thought) suffered from PMT and thought I was lucky apart from the really painful periods, until I came off the pill for a bit to have major surgery...

It took me a while to figure out what it was though - I thought I was losing my mind or something. There was more than one occasion where I sat on the floor (at home) bawling my eyes out over the silliest thing (mainly household related) and working myself up into a right state where I didn't know whether I was more angry or upset.

Needless to say I went back on the pill and now I don't give a shit

Thanks juneybean I was thinking about going down to the docs with it but know he'll prob just tell me it's normal and I'll feel like I'm wasting his time.

PMT? I'm a PMT bitch . My poor dp knows now that I take evreything to heart for about a week and will either end up crying or shouting

i suffer terribly with pms, i was crying full belt the other day when a char died on a tv program.

Nope only female doc we have has gone off as she has breast cancer. She's lovely too. Quite elderly and her appts always run really late because she spends that much time talking to you and explaining things. Something I think a lot of docs lack!

aww im sorry to hear that but you're right, the other docs just treat us like we're on a conveyor belt. do you have a smear due or anything like that?

Ok, so it happens to a lot of us. I have had ovarian cysts too, two of them and had them both taken out so maybe it is partly cos of that that i feel alot of pain. Bloody annoying though.

i have definitely noticed the pain on the day i ovulate and its gone by the next day.
