Lump on DD's chest please help!?

Today I found a pea size hard lump on my DDs breat near her nipple. She is 7months old. I am worried about her as she has had numerous problems in the last 3months that are still under investigation.

She had a CT scan 3 months ago as there was concern that her head was not growing, but all came back clear, and she is now due to see a nurologist as she has unexplained shaking of the head.

She has developmental delays, and is physicaly behind for her age. Also has a bilateral squint which she is under an opthamologist for!

I feel like it is one thing after another for her! Beside this she is a happy smiley baby girl am I worrying about this lump unecesarily? I have read about them developing as a result of my hormones but she was never breast fed, please reasure me!

Sounds frightening. Is it in the tissue? DS2 has a hard lump on his rib which is believed to be nothing, but this sounds different?

Do you have a paediatrician you can ask - if so I'd try to get in and see him or her quickly to set your mind at rest.

Its very close to her nipple, well what she has of them! It moves about when I touch it but doesnt seem to be causing her any discomfort, we have a health visitor coming in the morning for a routine check so I am going to ask her. Can't help worrying about it feel sick in my stomach :-(

DS2 did have funny lumps in his leg (he was ill when born and very skinny). The consultant we saw said it felt like a lipoma (??? I think- some fatty tissue), he reviewed it when he was a little older - and it doesn't seem to have caused any problems (he's 6 now). It's unikely to be anything serious even given her history of difficulties so try not to worry (easier said than done I know).

Ds1 had something like this - the GP said it was scar tissue, but it disappeared after a bit. Worth getting checked out - the GP said it was a 'good call', but don't panic!

Hi, i can totally understand what you're going through. I posted about my ds having a lump on his back and have been panicking endlessly about it. He was referred to the paediatrician who was'nt sure what it was but decided to send my ds for x-rays. They came back fine but he still has to have an ultrasound. The consultant does'nt think its anything serious, we have a 6-8 weeks wait for the scan so take reassurance from the fact that they have'nt rushed the appointment through.

I hope you get some reassurance soon, its such a worry being a parent and it sounds like you've had more than your fair share in such a short space of time.

DD was seen by the doctor today - who cant work out what the lump is so are going to monitor it. He says it feels like some sort of extra bone growth may need xrays if it gets any bigger in view of removing it as it is on her ribs.

Kaylasmum - it is a worry being a mum! I'm trying to focus now on the fact that I have a smiley happy little girl and whatever it is cant be causing her any grief! Hope that you get to the bottom for you DS's lump xx

Oh that sounds like ds2. The consensus has been that the risk of x-ray to the chest is greater than the risk of it being anything nasty- but to go back of it gets any larger. It's been the same for years now (he's 6). I have been told that if he ever needs an xray for any other reason to his chest then I should ask them to check it out at the same time.
