I used to get this constantly like you over and over again, strangly it stopped when i changed my pill, so just a thought if you are on the pill. Also it was recurrent bv so they did more tests and found out i had chlamadia, i had been with someone for 5 years at this point so it must have been from before then(unless he had been naughty), just thought i would mention it as when the chlamadia was treated the bv occured much less frequently

I think i might have found a cure!!!! not sure but i have had bv for 5yrs long yrs smh! i have tried every doctor prescribed and home remedy out there.. all big fails!!! i did alittle research and found out that it may be a hormone imbalance that is throwing off my ph balance witch gives me bv and y it keeps coming back time and time again... i found this out when i was wondering y i wasnt getting prego and hormone imbalance kinda made sense to me... well anyways back to bv i came across vitamin c witch i inserted right into my vagina warning! most women say it hurts or they get pinkish discharge for me it didnt hurt and i didnt get pink discharge i actually thought it would work after the first night because i woke up the next morning with no smell omg the best! BUT!! i still had discharge and alot of it like never ending! idk if it was my body trying to over clean itself because it had something up there but my excitement was short lived... i tried it for a week and same thing every day... then i thought maybe its too strong and one thing u dont wanna do is over do it just because u have it for yrs doesnt mean u need to over do it.. i tried to just take the vitamin c orally iv been taking it daily for about 5days no discharge no smell and i put it to the ultimate test i had sex! and yes after during and a day later still no smell no discharge!! its only been 5days so i will keep all of u posted of my results long term but i have hope im gonna keep taking it and also for my hormone imbalance im going to try and start taking agnus Castus its supposed to help with it so idk yet but i will start soon!

Hi ive had bv for about two and half years. First i thought its thrush. Last year my partner asked me if i had an infection... he noticed esp after sex there was a fishy smell. And finally decided to bring it up.with me. It made sense to me finally why my partner would sometimes be too tirrd to have sex... really he was put off by the strong fishy smell. Was very frustrating for m.

i didnt have a anwsrr for him as i had veen docters 3x and everytime i had been tested the results came back normal

(Doctors tests always come back wrong and i think this is so.unfair for the patient)
So i decided to go to sexual health clinic and they were very good. Straight away tested me and told me i have bv!!

Was given anti biotics, which worked a miricle. no smell for a week.
A week later it all.came.back.

Went back to clinic but the doctor was diff and seemed like i was being insane.. she told.me.its.normal and doesnt matter if there is a.smell, all vaginas smell.etc i tried to explain to her it wasnt normal but she tried her best to convience.me that its normal to live with .. i gave up and came home.

A month later after alot of frustration i went back to my.own GP. Luckily it was a good doctor.who gave me anti biotics and tested me.

The tests.came back normal. the antibiotics worked for about two weeks. Then i started my periods and bv came back.

Ive tried the balance active gels and canesten vagina gels. They work but only for a day. Once i stop using them the smell.comes back.

I also want to concieve but read that when using these gels it doesnt keep the sperm alive inside for long as it makes the vagina to acidic..

So.i dont want to use the gels. What else can i do or use?
Ive thought about a few factors.
I always wear cotton underwear.. should i change the way i wash my undewear?
Ive started taking vit D.. anyone else tried this? After how long did u see a difference?

Im also having kefir milk and actimel. If anyones tried these methods after how long did you see a difference?
Any other methods that have worked for anyone?
Also is it safe to put probotic capsules in vagina?

TrickortreaT2- Hey, I posted a couple weeks ago asking the question “Does anyone live with BV”?...
I’ve battled this for years and I’ve never found a “cure” had soooo many swabs, even at GUM clinics but always come back clear.
One thing I have found to help especially with sex is a lubricant called YES. It’s completely stopped the fishy smell, so I’ve started applying it daily and it’s helped but not gone away completely.
I’m sure there is more to the condition than we know as mine just comes and goes. I’ve tried taking things out my diet, stopped baths, use a special detergent and fab con but nothing has a lasting effect.
Mine disappeared for a few months and I thought hallelujah!!! But then came back, it’s such a weird thing xx

TrickortreaT2 · 30/03/2019 18:14

Hey kate3015 so sorry to hear about the annoying problem your having. I really hope theres a cure for us all! I will try YES x thanks for that

MidnightMystery · 31/03/2019 21:47

I wouldn't keep taking antibiotics ... get a tampon and some natural yogurt coat the tampon in it and insert for an hour this should help balance the Ph levels x

Kate3150 · 01/04/2019 17:18

@TrickortreaT2- just to add I think overuse of antibiotics caused my BV as it caused things the natural flora to become unbalanced.
I would highly recommend the YES lubrican’t, it’s completely got rid of the smell after sex which of course is great as we are also TTC Grin.
My periods are between 4 and 5 weeks so couple of weeks of waiting now!!! Xx

TrickortreaT2 · 01/04/2019 22:25

@kate3150 aww good luck hun, i will defo try YES, did you get it from online? Atm im using canesten vaginal gels, takes tve smell away but only for a day. Plus not good if your trying to concieve.I am trying to avoid antobiotics.

Kate3150 · 02/04/2019 18:55

I got it from my local health supermarket. The range is more extensive online though. Xx

TrickortreaT2 · 24/05/2019 17:02

@luvurslf any updates? Are you still using vit c is it working?

Feelbetter2 · 15/02/2020 11:44

@Kate3150. I self cured my BV naturally!! I want to share my story as everyone needs to know this!!
I noticed a constant bad fishy smell soon after I started using tampons (I was always a pad user previously). I was in denial and wondered whether it was in my head or whether it was real. My partner would complain of the bad smell during sex which was off putting. I went to the GP and she suggested wearing cotton undies (this didn't help). When I returned several months later, I saw a different GP. I had a pap smear and it came back as thrush. I had the treatment for thrush but the bad odours didn't go away. I put up with it for another year, always conscious of the bad smell through my clothes. Then I had another pap smear by a different doctor and it came up with BV (I think the first test missed it- the symptoms were the same the whole time). By then I probably put up with it for nearly 2 yrs. The Dr prescribed antibiotics which I didn't want to take as it would probably cause thrush. I searched online and people were talking about probiotics. I tried a douche like this:
Mixed the powder of 3 inner health plus capsules with a cup of water. Used a vaginal syringe and slowly squeezed it in my vagina over about 15 minutes, and tried to hold the liquid in during this time. The smell disappeared straight away! The next day, a slight smell returned so I did it again. I did this once a day, 3 days in a row. The next month after my period had finished, I did it again. This time only for 2 days in a row. Then after the 3rd period, I did it once. I was cured! The smell was completely gone! I have been clear for about 3 years now. Everyone suffering from BV should try this natural method first before going for medication.

You are far from alone and for so many people it is actually very very distressing when it is re-occuring as there seems to be no escape from it and it can have a very foul smelling odour that follows them around, leading to some self isolation to avoid it being detected.

In my experience going to the doctor for months and months was always a waste of time. For the best part of a year they prescribed anti-biotics and pills that did absolutely nothing and sometimes the anti biotics would lead to thrush and make it even worse, clear up the bv and then it was back a week later!

I found seeking natural alternatives life changing as I suffered for the best part of a year before seeking something different. My saving graces were yoni steams and yoni pearls but everyone is different so check through the range available. I found my products via this article: bit.ly/3l1WvHj - hope this helps!
