Fruity is in the pie of the beholder - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Why do women not have the equipment for easy outdoor weeing when they have the most pressure on their bladders?

pinkspottywellies · 14/08/2008 23:28

That's why they make these

TooTicky · 14/08/2008 23:31

Ick. So undignified

SuperBunnyisUnderRated · 15/08/2008 02:57

Sneaky undermining comments are horrible especially when you are sleep deprived with a newborn and perhaps feeling a little sensitive. Of course you have done well, Franny. Wonderfully. Mothers should be there to reassure and say lovely supportive things. Sadly, many just don't seem to know to do that.

Beans
onion, tomatoes, lettuce, apple (1 in total)
Grapes
Raisins
Juice (1/2)
Banana

erm, maybe 5 then.

Where's Bero?

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2008 08:29

thank you all, I am back to my usual state of head swellage again now
LOL at TooT "dangerous loony"
LOL at Bee great crested newts

capers are revolting, agree Pink
Pink you are spot on and I wish i had exercised more at the beginning of my pg but I felt so sick and tired I did nothing for ages
am honestly DESPERATE to go to gym, I think I must just go and shut up about it
I think it must symbolise something to me - being healthy and on top of things, or something
I hope it isn't a dreadful disappointment if I get there, and that ds2 will be alright for an hour, what do you think? he tends to feed fairly regularly, say every 2 or 3 hours, but then will go bonkers with no warning and want to feed for an hour or something
I suppose dp could just come and get me, I would be very near

Yes Bero is at her friend's with no internet

I have managed raisins so far. Might go and cut up my last pineapple now.

I have some new nappies to collect from the post office today I'm quite excited [pathetic]!

LullyOfShallot · 15/08/2008 09:25

Oh Franny
you are a wonderful mother,in every way.

I remember such comments from my mother, who thinks breast feeding is revolting & would tut & sniff each time I fed.I was quite glad that she only visited three times & then my father left & that was that.

As my grandmother would say
Trust your own instincts & dont listen to siren voices.
(especially not from dangerous loonies)

melon
blueberries
strawberries
blackberries

carrot,ginger apple juice.

LullyOfShallot · 15/08/2008 09:27

Oh can people tell me what they use on their faces?

My skin looks like lizard scales, rough & flaking & ich
Nothing seems to make any difference,I feel like I'm drying up.

pinkspottywellies · 15/08/2008 09:35

Lully!! Lovely to see you

I use all sort of chemical filled junk on my face which you don't want to hear about but if it's really dry, Weleda do an oil that my mum used. She liked it. And although the idea of an oil on your face might make people go it's actually perfectly fine and doesn't make you go like a slick! I have an oil that I use once a week at night. Feels lovely.

OsmosisBanana · 15/08/2008 09:57

Morning.

Lully - Cod recommended a thing called 'this works' leg oil for scaliness, maybe t'would be good everywhere?. She said it really did work. And being Cod, she of Style and Beauty, it must be so....

Is HC someone obvious, am I being dense?

I am feeling befuddled. DH was teasing me last night about a certain situation that won't be mentioned again and now I feel all angsty and weird. I was in a good mood until I remembered the conversation and now feel tearful.

Could be because I slept through the night 2 nights in a row and now my body is finally catching up with something resembling sleep! Sorry Fran, no gloating intendined on the sleep front

Am also annoyed beacuse my dinner last night didn't turn out quite as I had pictured it in my head and am a food perfectionist. Grr.

2 x bananananananana batman

Will post dress tomorrow PSW, it has only just dried. You might want to wash it again it has taken so long to dry!

Hope all well.

I ran for 20 mins last night also, the last 5 were uphill. Am going again tonight. Weirdly I had a crick in my neck before I went running, when I came back it was gone.

Oh and I demolished hideous white veneer 70's fitted wardrobe. Was secretly hoping for treasure hidden by previous tennant and forgotten. No such luck.

OsmosisBanana · 15/08/2008 10:00

Lully - facewise I use clarins daily stuff. Tis good. I have occasional excema and it doesn't hurt it. They also sell a little pot of plant oil type stuff which you can out on B4 moisturising which sinks in really fast and isn't greasy.

It's about £25 for the moisturiser and £30 for the plant oil but I think I have found the brand I might stick to for life and they last a long time. I've had both well over 5 months.

Have you tried Dr Haushka Rose stuff? My friend with dry skin swears by it.

Boco · 15/08/2008 11:11

Morning. The girls have been taken to the zoo - there was no room for me in the car. Shame.

Dp got up this morning, brought me tea in bed, then made the girls a picnic to take with them, gave them breakfast and then dropped them at friends house on his way to work. I was left blinking in the doorway in pyjamas and empty house. How nice.

I must take advantage of empty house, rather that mumsnet and read the paper and drink coffee in the garden which has been my morning so far.

OsmosisBanana · 15/08/2008 11:23

WHO IS HC????? Come on now. No brains today.

DH just got offered permanent job with tree surgery company in Blagdon he really liked as team leader rather than just monkey. An actual term BTW.

This will be the first time ever that we have both had 9-5 ish jobs at the same time in the 8 years we've been together! It's always been running own businesses / college / unemployment / mat leave etc etc. How excitingly normal. And normal pay cheques! Yay!

Not for long though. Cackle cackle.

Boco · 15/08/2008 11:33

Harpsichordcarrier is HC

OsmosisBanana · 15/08/2008 11:40

Thanks. Feel much better now!

I saw a coat yesterday. It is acid orange and beautiful and reduced to £35. If it is still there today I might have to have it then secret it into the house until September when I am allowed to go on my shopping spree.

LullyOfShallot · 15/08/2008 11:42

Osba HC is Harpsi

I've tried DR H,Weleda,Neals Yard,Liz Earle,Organic Pharmacie etc etc
Used to use rose oil but now it has no effect.
It's like I'm completely dehydrated, but I'm not..even my scalp is flaking ughhhh. My nose is horribly peely.

Boco that sounds sublime
I am quite missing my free mornings when ds is at nursery.
Never ever thought I would say that.
Still I shall be a pitiful wreck when he goes to school in january so must make the most of our time now.

Boco,do the girls still play with sylvanian stuff?

Have had horrible morning
Long boring story involving dh's revolting family, his mother's 8oth at the Ritz, him not being invited, him wanting to be invited, him arguing with brothers ex wife, him falling out with mother.

Now if I drank,I would be having a large one now.
Spent all ruddy morning on the phone & my stress levels are at exploding point.

LullyOfShallot · 15/08/2008 11:51

Oh God dh in tears,in the office & his mother has now disowned him & written him out of the will etc (again)
He wants me to call her & sort it out as he is too hot headded & has already hung up on her twice.
Am I horrid to say no?
I just cannot bear to be involved in all this again, has happened many many times before.

Boco · 15/08/2008 11:55

Oh dear Lully, that sounds bad, the peeling and the reeling! Shame that family are such hard work. Maybe do a beauty thread about the skin? Sure there'll be some ideas.

Yes, girls still like Sylvanians. They have Sylvanian land in their room with the starter house and the windmill and a shoe shop. Several strange wooden characters have been incorporated, as well as some zoo animals.

Boco · 15/08/2008 11:56

written out again? How bonkers. If they're being hot headed with each other it doesn't sound like she'd listen anyway - she sounds a little crazy.

LullyOfShallot · 15/08/2008 12:12

Peeling an reeling
She's utterly awful Boco really
She's so hard to get along with & constantly writing & rewriting people in & out of her will when they please/displease her.

Not brave enough to start a thread on lizard skin
people will shout, baby lotion, nivea & ponds at me & zillion pound products made out of crushed pearls or something.
I look so hideous today that I really dont want to go out.

Ah...found a huge bag of about 20 sylvanian rabbits, puppies, mice, bears, cats etc in the charity shop yesterday.Vintage ones, all immaculate & dressed.Would the girls like them?
Could pop them in with the much overdue bear suit

Boco · 15/08/2008 12:26

You never know, they might shout something useful - sorry you feel so rotten.

I'm sure the girls would love them, have you already got them or are they at the shop? Let me know what they cost. No hurry for the bear suit, the girls are currently fairies every day.

LullyOfShallot · 15/08/2008 12:29

I bought them for the girls, but thought I'd better ask in case they are old hat now
Will post all tomorrow.

M in law just told me I was a snob

FrayedKnot · 15/08/2008 12:57

Hmm LL I use Weleda Wild Rose and have just got some Dr H to try, but I see you have already tried those.

I also use Jason Vitimin E oil every night.

My skin soaks up moisture like a sponge so I never wake up all slimy

Boco enjoy the day and don;t you dare waste it on housework!

Franny glad you are feeling better today. DS2 will be fine for an hour, you know he will!

(Says she who refused to leave DS for even as much as 2 minutes for the first 7 months)
