For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

hello

oh stuffit - hello!

I went to that forest school type thing today. It was WONDERFUL. i made wool like from a sheep all the way to weaving it and we did outdoors weaving. We did orienterring and I am crap at it and

I said to ds: 'i am rubbish at this - sorry we keep getting lost'

and he said: 'never mind mummy - the lunch was nice and we can't be good at everything can we'

it was good in an outdoorsy way. No coffee either and no alcohol yesterday or today.

SuperBunnyisUnderRated · 12/08/2008 19:32

does anyone know anything about postnatal exercise? am wanting to do some to improve mood and energy levels
personal trainer says she cannot advise before 8 weeks have passed as there is a risk of haemorrhage [?]
8 weeks quite a long time really

OP posts:
SuperBunnyisUnderRated · 12/08/2008 19:50

They say 6 weeks over here before resuming normal-ish exercise. No idea what to suggest - swimming? Post-natal yoga?

BBBee · 12/08/2008 19:50
FrannyandZooey · 12/08/2008 19:51

I hate swimming
I just want to go to the gym and do a bit of treadmill / bike, and some light weights or something
I am pining for it tbh
fuck I am sad

OP posts:
BBBee · 12/08/2008 19:52

I had a special post natal exercise dvd but was about a strenuous as standing in the middle of a room brushing your hair.

um, walking? (yeah, like you wouldn't have thought of that )

BBBee · 12/08/2008 19:52

i would go to the gym and take it easy

SuperBunnyisUnderRated · 12/08/2008 19:53

I am sure that walking on treadmill would be ok? Perhaps not marathon running but if all is ok in the Tom dept and and you are being careful am sure you'll be ok to try something.

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 19:56

I thought it was 6 weeks too. As long as no c section.

Right, I am having monumental wardrobe clearout.

Will name decent items and if you want them, they're yours.

littlerach · 12/08/2008 19:56

Do what you think you can, Fran.
Hey, that rhymes!!

Stuffit, that sounds fabulous.
We have grey skies and big puddles.

Off to Bournemouth tomorrow to visit sis and baby.

FrannyandZooey · 12/08/2008 19:57

I think I want to be at the gym because it is like a little refuge
I don't do anything else there except exercise and it is nicely mindless and it is away from all family stuff - does that make sense?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 12/08/2008 19:59

they don't do your postnatal check now till 8 weeks
it's so they can do your baby's jabs at the same time, because they don't think people will have them done otherwise
this is really pissing me off

OP posts:
littlerach · 12/08/2008 19:59

Yes, makes clear sense to me.

I used ot do the weekly shop when dd2 was very small as then I was out of the house and had less to think about/panic about.

Meaning I left dd2 with dh.

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 19:59

you'll have to speak up quick though as I need space and it's got to go.

littlerach · 12/08/2008 20:01

We're listening, OsBa!!
