For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny, try Tui Bee Balme , it is beautiful and works. Put it on before bedtime and it is a good barrier, put it on any sore bits, you can even use it on your lips.
Fwiw, my dcs did poo at night and I have been known to sleep guiltily through burblings and smells and slight leaks.

OB, I was a crap step mother for a while. To be fair though, I was only 18 and it was all a bit of a shock. I was a crappy teenager anyway. I think you do brilliantly. We don't even see dp's other dcs now, they are all growed up and busy with their own lives.

Boco, good luck with the floating shoes!!!!!

Meet up, yes. We will come. But must avoid my mother's birthday which is 29th Oct. Not sure which day that is.

TooTicky · 12/08/2008 14:11

Oh Lully, yes there was post. I am going to email you, please tell me if it doesn't arrive.

SuperBunnyisUnderRated · 12/08/2008 14:24

Hellooooo Lully

about flood, Boco. Are ou all ok.

Sorry about sore bottom and excitable and sicky DS2 in the night. Avi, how do you manage to have a child who has never pooed at night?

I imagine step-parenting is v hard. Being the mum is hard enough. Why isn't DH helping you, OsBa?

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 14:28

Stop that TooT, blushing at work gives the game away that I'm not really doing any of my tasks. Fancy coming to DD's birfday extravaganza in Nov?

Obv that goes to any other west country dwellers too (Littlerach?). Or non WC dwellers. Whatever. Might be a larf. Will certainly be merry, whether that be through mulled wine or watching DH assemble a bonfire / fireworks.

I really want a glass of wine tonight but am trying to be strong.

I am going to do at least 40 mins on wretched step machine and only eat my left over vegetable curry which has only one slightly naughty ingredient - creamed coconut. It's very tasty indeed, you could fool yourself it was full of badness.

Have the tides receded yet Boco?

Oh grim, footy season for DH starts tonight. I so look forward to it ending and then it rolls around so fast I feel cheated.

TooTicky · 12/08/2008 14:33

OB, do you think you could cope with us?

LullyOfShallot · 12/08/2008 14:35

Helllooooooo lovely UnderatedBunny
How's things?

Toot you have mail

womblingalong · 12/08/2008 14:36

Hello everyone,

Boco - sounds awful, does this happen a lot? HOw are you feeling?

Lully, welcome back, sorry that DS is upset.

OB, why isn't DH sorting DSD?

Franny, What about changing nappy when he wakes, but before feeding? I treid it, but DS would not wait, in the end I used to feed on one side, change nappy, then feed on other side to get him back to sleep. It mioght work for you? It is a very short phase where they do this pooing in the night, it will soon settle down, honest.

Hi TooT, Tatties, UR, hope all is well.

TooT, I didn't know you were a Stepmum, or that DH had other, grown up children. How do you/he feel about not seeing them? I dread losing contact with my DC's when they grow up .

TooTicky · 12/08/2008 14:37

You have ripe blackberries? Want to swap for some cooking apples from the garden?

TooTicky · 12/08/2008 14:39

I'm not really Wombling. I don't warrant the title. At the time when I could have been of some use I didn't have a clue.

Yes, I dread mine growing up and moving away. And not wanting bedtime stories any more.

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 14:43

DH cannot sort DSD beacuse..... wait for it...... He has got a job!!!!! Yay! Tree surgeons have to get up the sparrows fart apparently.

In the summer I can understand this, I hope this is not usual behavious in the winter. Surely chainsaws in the darkness is bad.

Why he cannot swap his days with his ex I do not understand, he doesn't work Fridays so surely we could have her Thursday nights and drop off Fri mornings or whatnot (term time I'm thinking). No no, much better for me to have to do all the running around.

I know that she is doing this because she can. They fell out recently when she discovered we had the nerve to buy tickets to Shambala 'her festival' and is still refusing to answer the phone to him.

Ah well. Whatever. I shall be ther better person. (snurk)

TooT - it will be chaotic, you'll fit right in

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 14:44

get up AT the sparrows fart obviously. It would be tricky to get up A sparrows fart.

TigerFeet · 12/08/2008 14:45

Step parenting must be really hard - I really can't imagine it. OsBa surely dh should pull his weight?

I like wombling's idea of changing before or during a feed. I am desperately trying to remember what we did with dd but can't. I'm sure it was terribly important at the time but has faded into history, along with a load of other stuff that seemed important like the arrival of the first tooth and the first time she rolled over. I can't remember when either of those things happened.

I am drinking lots of water today in an effort to stave off choclate cravings. The full moon approacheth. [pmt] BLackberry and apple crumble would go down a treat just now

womblingalong · 12/08/2008 14:47

I agree OB, you could only get up a sparrows fart if you were a flea or somesuch

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 14:47

I made summer pudding last night, that any good for you TF?

TigerFeet · 12/08/2008 14:47

Ah. x posts about the dh thing. A tree surgeon? That's a cool job title , like rocket scientist or crocodile hunter.

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 14:48

yes, or a fruit fly maybe Womb?

I mean wombling

womblingalong · 12/08/2008 14:48

TF, Saw your thread about DH and holiday for childcare ant YANBU at all. I would be fuming. Is all resolved now, or are you going to have to insist?

TigerFeet · 12/08/2008 14:50

I am impressed with everyone's fruity puddings

DD and I got as far as chocolate cake at teh weekend

This weekend we might put cherries on top. Maybe.

womblingalong · 12/08/2008 14:50

TooT, how does DH feel about his other children? Sorry if I am being nosy, I am just genuinely interested.

OsmosisBanana · 12/08/2008 14:50

YOU'RE ALL SO BUSY!!! Normally it's me typing away to myself in the afternoons. Slow down!

What's the childcare thingy?

TigerFeet · 12/08/2008 14:52

It's resolved wombling, thanks for asking - he is going to book the days. Grudgingly. He never said he wouldn't, but it's the air of how much it will put him out that bugs me.
