For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Relieved that headache getting better at last - I'm sure it was the antibiotics so stopped taking them last night. Neck and eyes still really hurt, but not as bad.

blueberries.

Inlaws just left. Am overwhelmingly grateful for some space.

Am going to see the Klimt at the Tate Liverpool, and to a wedding this weekend.
Is it bad to wear black to a wedding?

OsmosisBanana · 11/08/2008 14:37

No black is fine I think - just steer clear of white!

Just got back from Tesco - have been trying out shite cheap new brand of nappies for DD, poor little rat, she's soaked to the knees of her trousers.

Am feeling industrious today so hopefully England will win the match in the next 10 mins and I can crack on with stocking my freezer with all things carrot related.

Anyone got a good recipe for Carrot and coriander soup???

littlerach · 11/08/2008 14:44

Black is fine, I htink.

I wore black, red and white dress last year.
Black with white polka dots this year.

pinkspottywellies · 11/08/2008 14:54

Boco glad you feel a bit better.

I don't know about carrot and corriander but I do a nice carrot and lentil one. No recipe as such. Throw in onion, carrots, lentils, nutmeg maybe or something. Cook.

I picked blackberries again today

FrayedKnot · 11/08/2008 15:49

Hellooo

Boco glad you feel a bit better....sorry to hear inlaws have left

I am slumped...so tiring going back to work today.

Made a yummy feta & chickpea salad yesterday with loads of mint, basil, cherry toms, red onions, if anyone is looking for ideas.

I seem to have acquired a spare tyre composed entirely of cake and icecream while on holiday

FrayedKnot · 11/08/2008 15:51

OsBa I use grated carrot in lots of things, e.g. potato and carrot rosti, carrot and lentil loaf etc.

FrannyandZooey · 11/08/2008 16:21

Delighted to hear your 'Tom' news Franny

BBBee · 11/08/2008 17:05

yes franny - glad your 'tom' is better.

black fine for wedding if your friends are how I imagine they are. FFS don't start a thread though - you will be traditionally told off.

I wore black for a wedding last year and they didn;t shoot me.

am off to make stuff.

I, also, have a headache.

OsmosisBanana · 11/08/2008 17:29

Am officially a domestic godling.

Vast vat of C&C safely ensconced in freezer.

Vast vat of vegetable curry heading same way.

Am about to make summer pudding. This has never been attempted B4 but am told it's easy..

I need a chest freezer.

I am doing this as have decided DH HAS to make one evening meal a week, not to be take away (that is ok other nights but not when his turn!) Thus am helping by hiding things in freezer

littlerach · 11/08/2008 17:44

Is summer pud the one with bread and fruit in?

WE are having left over falafel, pasta salad and veg.

No courgettes as I ma courgetted out.

Have passed lots to neighbours for future favours

Fingers crossed fo rnice weather on holiday.

TigerFeet · 11/08/2008 18:14

I need a chest freezer too, although I have a decent sized upright. It is getting somewhat depleted though as I have gone through a can't be arsed to cook phase recently. Problem is, due to tiny weeness of the kitchen the freezer is in the shed at the bottom of the garden

I wore black to a friend's wedding a couple of years ago, no one tutted or Judged (I think)

Glad the headache is passing Boco

SuperBunnyisUnderRated · 11/08/2008 20:29

Allo

Yes, yes, am ok, sorry. Just not sure I want to be with BF but don't really know why when he is so lovely and really is just what I would want. Am wondering if I just need time alone. But then I feel lonely. Argh.

Had lovely morning with DS today and now he's being helpful and having a nap. Yay.

Lots of yummy food on here I am going to steal FK's chickpea and feta salad. I also have a spare tyre.

Good news re 'Tom'

Do any of you use nutritional yeast?

Where is Lully? She's been gone for ages. How is zippi?

pinkspottywellies · 11/08/2008 21:17

Making your own naan? How?

Today has been a better day for f&v. Drum roll please...............

Raisins, oj, blackberries, pineapple (and now dd says pineapple instead of just apple Actually it sounds more like pineaa-poo but anyway), carrot, cabbage (lots of leftover coleslaw from christening) bit of lettuce from the garden, peas, onion and peppers in sausage cass. That's 8 so if I go now and have an apple and some prunes (to keep me regular I'll be done

Please may I have a sticker?

FrannyandZooey · 11/08/2008 21:17

UR, are you perhaps used to shitty men, and find yourself bored / unconvinced by genuinely nice men who might actually treat you well? Common mistake

pinkspottywellies · 11/08/2008 21:21

Thanks Fran

fishie · 11/08/2008 21:21

what is nutritional yeast? i have a 'pet' starter in fridge which makes my main loaves.

SuperBunnyisUnderRated · 11/08/2008 21:31

Possibly, Franny. Am confused. Will think.

Nutritional yeast is inactive yeast - it has lots of B vitamins and you can use it to make food cheesy apparently but I am not sure if it is yuck.

Homemade Naan, yum.

FrannyandZooey · 11/08/2008 21:34

can people email me if they want to do this - a London Meet Up, in October or end of November (sorry I can't do first 3 weeks of Nov)

frannyandzooey at india dot com

please include which weekends you can do, and whether you can do a Sunday (I would much prefer a Sunday, as the hotels are cheap on a Sunday night, and not on a Monday. But if people can't make Sunday will have to rethink)

I reserve the right to let this all tail off embarrassingly if I can't be arsed, or people are not co-operative enough for my liking

I have started ironing when the washing is done instead of letting it pile up. I used to sling it all on the bed but the last 2 loads I have just brought it upstairs and quickly ironed mine and dd's (I don't iron for dh - long story) and it only takes 15 mins and I don't get the spare room taken over by the laundry monster.

It's a revelation
