visual impairment

I am currently having a bout of visual impairment. I have blurred vision in one eye, difficulty focusing. It's making me dizzy and nausaeos (I give up, that was the third attempt at spelling...). What I am really suprised about is my emotional reaction to this. I am incredibly self-conscious about it and feel very withdrawn (which is out of character) I find any conversation very difficult because I can't focus on the person I am talking to. I feel my body language is affected. Is this normal? Anyone out there with similar experiences? If so did you overcome this? The impairment is (hopefully) temporary but is caused by something that means it could, one day, re-occur or even become permanent. Any advice?
