Root canal treatment??

I had root canal treatment done on a molar tooth last year,was truly awful

Cost me £400ish and as i am terrified of dentists took a lot for me to go through with it.

Thought that would be the end of the problem, but i can feel somethings not right in the same tooth. Feels like it is all flaring up again. Could i possibly have the same problem in the same tooth??

I will want to shoot myself if it is the same problem. I honestly don't know if i could go through that again,never mind the money of which i have none atm.

I have a root canal tooth that still has an abcess underneath. It flares up now and then and I take antibiotics. Just wasn't done properly. one day i'll have the tooth pulled out.

I have been doing a lot of research into root canals as I need one done too.

Basically, it is possible for the treatment to fail if the procedure was not done thoroughly enough. If not all the pulp is removed or it's not capped properly then bacteria can get back in and reinfection can occur. You will then need to get the procedure redone (which has a lower success rate) or have the tooth extracted.

Was the treatment done privately or on the NHS? If on the NHS then any further treatment on that tooth should be covered by your initial payment. Even if it's private then if you can show that the treatment wasn't done properly to start with, they shouldn't charge you more to sort it out.

Oh god!! How would i show it wasn't done properly in the first place tho?

I really would not want to have it extracted,i have already had the pre molar pulled due to failed root canal treatment ie shit dentist not enough anasthetic and i wimped out,so ther would be massive space iyswim?

I had an appointment with a private dentist last week about my RCT and he said that they would do any more work needed on the tooth in the next couple of years without further payment. If the treatment had been done properly then it shouldn't flare up this quickly. But obviously you will have to see what your dentist says.
