DD's gunky eye

DD 11 months has had a slightly gunky eye on one side for a few weeks. She has some slightly sticky green stuff that keeps appearing on her lower eyelashes towards the outside of her eye. It looks a bit like sticky sleepy dust. The eye itself doesn't look sore and it doesn't seem to be bothering her. I mentioned it to the GP as thought maybe it was comjunctivitus but he said unless the eye itself was sore then not to worry about it!
However its still not getting any better although hasn't got any worse. That particular eye does seem to water quite a lot but not constantly.
Any ideas what it could be? Thanks in advance {smile]

conjunctivitis if you're still breastfeeding you could squirt some milk into it!

Blocked tear duct?

wipe with some warm salt water from the inner bit of the eye towards the outside bit.

Do this three/four times a day (gently of course) and it should clear up in just a couple of days.

Good luck.

Sounds like a blocked tear duct, gently run your little finger from the corner of her eye down the side of her nose thru the day, it can sometimes 'move along' blockages.

Agree with blocked duct - try a warm flannel and massage as MNP suggests.

In some (very rare) cases, if it doesn't clear up it may need a small operation to unblock it, so if it doesn't clear up in a month or so go and see an optician who can look under a lamp and see what's going on.

HTH
