Natural or Regular Toothpaste for 14 month old

Hello, my 14 month old has 4 teeth top and 4 teeth bottom and I've been using a weleda natural no chemicals, no fluoride toothpaste for him, as I use only natural products on me, but yesterday another mum told me that she knew a child who's teeth had all rotted because mum only used natural toothpaste, so I've started using some of the regular stuff the health visitor gave me but i don't like giving him stuff with artificial sweetners in it. Tom's of Maine does a natural one with fluoride but the instructions just seems to refer to kids over 2. However, I've just seen another post on a different question from a mum saying that a dentist told her no need to use toothpaste on little ones so am I worrying about nothing... as usual!!

Ask your dentist about what they reccomend as natural fouride content of water varries from area to area.

Our dentist told me that we have low flouride in our area, so using flouride toothpaste was really important to help prevent cavities.

ok, that's really helpful - I'll give them a call tomorrow. he drinks tap water everyday but i have no idea whether we are high or low fluoride area - i live in north london, but spend a lot of time in spain where my family live and there he has bottled water.

The dentists i work for recommend that everyone uses fluoride toothpaste with at least 1000ppm on teeth as soon as they appear. So i wouldn't go by age recommendations on the tube, Aquafresh toothpaste with this amount is labelled for 4-6 year olds!
