thimerosal

anyone interested in the thimerosal issue will like this link

the really interesting reading isn't the article though it's the document (which can be downloaded) - written by someone very senior in merck.

I was particuarly interested in the first line which said that the uk govt had expressed concern about thimerosal- especially as this document was written in 1991.

also interested to see that in the table they give of toxicities mercury salts (ie thimerosal) are listed as most toxic.

also very interested to see that the reason ethyl mercury (thimerosal) is assumed to be safer than methyl mercury is because it is transported out of the body faster. So what happens if your metal transport system is up the creek? (as it is in many many autistics). hmmm let me see- not rocket science is it?

Although read it properly now and its saying that thimerosal is a phenoli salt- and not classifying it as ethyl mercury so that's a bit confusing (phenolic salts are leass toxic)

'it is reasonable to conclude... that thimerosal should be removed from single dose vials when it can be removed, especially where use in infants and young children is anticipated"

So that was written by a leading vaccine developer to the head of a drugs company in 1991?

Single dose vials cost about a dollar more per shot.

well yes- particularly if your system for transporting heavy metals is buggered.

Very interesting article Jimjams. We had to endure harsh looks, etc. at not giving ds the flu vaccine, but held to our guns because of the thimerosol issue. The nurse looked at us like we were crazy.
