Broken Rib?............advice needed

My husband fell in the shower and landed on the bath, several days later he was in a lot of pain and went to the hospital, where he was told that there is no treatment for rib pain, they do not even do an x-ray as all he has to do is rest and take pain-killers. Anything else he can do, from your experience?

Ouch!

Arnica tablets for the bruising?

Breeze - my DH also broke a rib, in a rugby match someone trod on him! - anyway, there is no treatment, (plenty of booze to dull the pain? !!), have to say that he has been left with a sticking out rib ever since, just as well he doesn't want to be a supermodel!!

I suggested booze, but he thought you are not allowed to have booze if taking paracetamol and ibuprofen. Is it. I have looked on the leaflets and it doesn't say anything about no booze.

If the leaflets dont mention it, it can't be a problem I would have though.

Thought. I would have thought...

check before sending, check before sending...

Well I know you're not supposed to, but when I've got bad period pain I quite freely mix red wine and ibuprofen... works for me

(Yes, I do know that period pain pales into insignificance compared to a broken rib...)

Knowing my DH's drinking habits he probably drank so much he didn't need the painkillers!!

There aren't many drugs which cause problems with alcohol - not that I'm necessarily endorsing drink and drugs! If it doesn't mention have a 'No Alcohol' warning on its label then I'm sure it's fine. Hope the rib mends soon!
