I've had an eye infection for weeks now, and I've tried everything - steroid tablets, steroid drops etc etc and its still so painful.

I'm starting to get a bit worried that its just never going to go away Does anyone know anything about eye infections?

Have you had antibiotics? They are usually very effective.

Have you considered that it might be hayfever? I got hayfever for the first time at 41!

I've taken piriton for hayfever, and I've also had a course of antibiotics. I'm seeing the right sort of dr about it all but its been so long now and they have tried so many things I'm beginning to lose hope!

I take it you're seeing an Ophthalmologist!
have they swabbed your eyes to see what the infection is?

When I had this I was referred to the hospital who prodded and poked me for weeks on end and finally decided I was allergic and it had just flared up really, really badly. Life ling but not life threatening. You may be luck! But push for a referral asap.

Yup, they've swabbed my eyes, but won't know for days yet apparently. I'm lucky to live near a specialist eye casualty department, so I've been hanging out there quite a bit.

I look hideous. And I can't wear any eye make up, so also look knackered. Its a good look, overall.
