would this be effective contraception?

My GP has prescribed me a strong version of the pill to postpone my period over our holiday as the last one was so gruesome.

Do you think it will also act as a contraceptive? - only taking it for 3 weeks

No idea, but ask your pharmacist, they will definetly know.

It should say on the packet, or else the pharmacist will know as TCF says.

If your periods are bad and you hate condoms why not ask the doctor about getting a 'proper' prescription of the pill?

probaly wont work for the first seven days but should be ok after that.

yes it will work as a contraceptive but as a pp said you would have to take other precautions for 7 days.
