ds2 will be 1yo on friday - was on verge of switching him to cows milk. BUT i think he's on his way down with chicken pox - if he's eating nothing is he better on formula than cows milk?

I don't think there's a lot of difference nutritionally, but I'd leave him on what he's used to if he's not feeling 100%, as he may be less hungry anyway.

I don't think there's any reason not to give icecream... though he may not like it!

But if he's not well, just give him whatever he normally likes and don't worry if he doesn't fancy much. Just so long as he's geting enough fluids.

Iirc both of mine got a real shock the first time they tried it!
