Ainsmum - do you have the number of the ward where she had her grommits put in. Why not give them a ring and see if you can speak to someone - otherwise ring the comsultants secretary and make a nuisance of yourself about the outpatient appointment.
The grommits do fall out but a couple of months seems a bit soon.
