Please I need help, my dd 3 months old has had dirrhea for 8 days now...no sign of it getting better, thank god no puking and apetite is ok, so no dehydration as we have been giving loads of fluids...but I am getting fed up with this, and poor dd bum is becoming red from all the nappy changes. I have already been to the gp and we have a stool in the lab..but surrely an infection would have settled by now? I worry that this might be some sort of milk intolerance and hence a long term problem...any ideas mumsnetters?

Are you giving dialorite {spelling} as well to replace minerals/salts etc?
are you breast or bottle feeding?

My ds was lactose (cannot remeber if that is spekt right as it was 2 yrs ago) intolerance, and had the same sort of problem but not for that long!!

bottle feeding
gave diarolyte for a day, then alternated diarolye and diluted milk for a day, and back on full strength milk now...didnt want to leave her like that for too long...i worry about her not getting enough calories . does that sound reasonable? and am topping her up with water in between feeds to make up for fluid losses, only prob is she doesnt really like water, so refuses it after an opunce or so ...
