So how do they test your lungs?

theboob · 09/07/2008 20:29

a machine, you blow into it and they type your age in,calculate your lung space and tell you its real age

my dad also died of lung cancer 5 months before i got married.
he never met my son either who has just turned 1.

don't do it!

Swedes · 09/07/2008 20:37

Your children will smell of smoke if you smoke. When their teacher leans over them to help them with their reading their clothes will reek of stale smoke. Yuk.

theboob · 09/07/2008 20:38

i will read that thanks,i am struggling really and keep rubbing my patch in the hope more nicotine comes out ,and i have turned into a dragon

boob - not having the coffee, this is also caffine that you are depriving yourslef of, really go and have the coffee and get used to drinking coffee without a ciggy.

Go and get some really nice real coffee so its different from your normal old stuff.

The caffine withsrawl is making you like a dragon not the nicotine - probably. So have a cup of coffee and enjoy the flavour then at least you will have satisfied one craving but not the killer craving.

theboob · 09/07/2008 21:02

your right,i might have a fag and start my patches again tomorrow, and go to waterstones and get that book,im just reading the other thread and laughing ,i do want to stop and i will but this way is not working that great,i have appointment at the stop snoking clinic soon

Nooooooooo. Have neither of them if there are association problems. Go and have a long hot bath with lots of lovely stuff in it. Then give yourself a pedicure sitting on your bed. Read book and go to sleep. Happy and smelling lovely.

STEP AWAY FROM THE CAFFEINE AND NICOTENE

theboob · 09/07/2008 21:08

at the mo i cant prise myself off here and i smoke outside anyway so for the min im safe

I stopped drinking coffee and wine when I quit smoking, because they were associated in my mind.

Restarted coffee & wine about a month afterwards and was surprised to see I actually enjoyed them without cigarettes.

Personally I would say 'don't drink coffee', but you know yourself best.

pofaced · 09/07/2008 21:13

Niquitin lozenges worked for me: 2mg ones if you have first cigarette more than 30 mins after you get up (!) Honestly... they kill the craving and then you just get on with other stuff and realise how much time is spent planning the craft fag and thinking about nasty diseases simultaneously

ivykaty44 · 09/07/2008 21:13

For me it was the coffee that got me through, that and banans, gym, apples, satsumers, more coffee, gym, coffee and wayhay no sex

ivykaty44 · 09/07/2008 21:14

Good for you, theboob

I promise you, very soon, you will have all the coffee you want with no thought for cigarettes.

TillyScoutsmum · 11/07/2008 22:33

The inhalators are good as well - it means you can actually go outside and "have a drag". Most of the craving isn't chemical (i.e. nicotine), its habitual. So by pretending to have a cigarette (via the inhalator) its easier.
