Do you have a headache at all? could it be referred pain?

mommy6 · 08/07/2008 17:45

No head-ache at all.

sure it's your eye and not your sinus

zookeeper · 08/07/2008 17:53

I woke up this weekend with a very sore eye - so sore that I went to casualty - they couldn't see anything in it but they gave me antibiotic cream and it's getting better. the pharmacist I spoke to before I went to casualty told me not to use eyedrops until it had been looked at properly because that could do more harm than good.

which is not much help i know. Hope it gets better soon

zookeeper · 08/07/2008 17:54

they did say that it was probably caused by overuse of contact lenses (I wear dailies)and not to wear them for a week

Is your eye red? Is it sensitive to the light?

mommy6 · 08/07/2008 18:09

It is my eye, like the whole of my eye aches. It's not red and it's not like i have got something in it.I feel like i have to keep closing it but not because of the light.
I know i'm not normal.

where do you live/

Tiggiwinkle · 08/07/2008 18:12

Is your vision affected? (Test the painful eye by covering the other one.)

Jux · 08/07/2008 18:18

Go to your nearest eye clinic if it's not OK tomorrow. Seriously.

mommy6 · 08/07/2008 18:19

The painkillers have started to work now,so vision is back to normal. The first lot of painkillers didn't really work,so suffered all afternoon. There was no way i could have come on here when i got home from school it was so painfull. Its just a dull ache now.

I'm in the west midlands Bundle. Why?

Agree that you should get it looked at preferably at an eye casualty if you have one nearby. Eye problems can be serious and GPs often do not have the expertise to diagnose them.

wannaBe · 08/07/2008 18:21

I don't want to alarm you but I had this recently and it turned out to be glaucoma.

How is the vision in your sore eye?

Also, close both your eyes and with one finger press very gently on to each eye. If the sore one is harder than the other one then that could indicate a change in pressure.

Eyes are not to be messed with and you should go up to casualty asap.

Bundle · 08/07/2008 18:24

just wondered if you had an eye hospital nearby, i always suggest people go to eg Moorfields

mommy6 · 08/07/2008 18:31

Bundle we have a eye hospital close but they close at 5pm.If its the same tomorrow i'll phone them.

I have tried the pressure test they both feel the same. But its starting to ache again so i'm turning pc off soon.

When I get a migrain, it's only my eye that aches, no pain in my head.

Bundle · 08/07/2008 21:15

there are certain types of headache which can focus on the eye - do go and see the specialists in the morning though

Bundle · 08/07/2008 21:16

(cocolepew, i just get the aura, no headache)
