Erythema Nodosum

Was wondering if anyone has had any experience of this.

Our 16 month old dd has just had it diagnosed, having had a reddened patch on her cheek with solid tissue underneath. Apparently this is a reaction to a virus or infection and should clear up within a few weeks on its own. However as it is so unusual any reassurances would be welcome!

Thanks in anticipation,

LizS

I had this all over my legs a few years ago and it was very painful. Lots of hard red lumps which really ached, especially when I moved or knocked them by mistake. They did go away although I can't remember how long it took, not terribly long I don't think.

In my case they were linked to something called sarcoidosis and were in fact the only visible symptom I had.

I think erythema nodosum just translates as red lumps or nodules which always seemed pretty unimaginative.

I've got no useful advice to offer other than not to worry! Mine went away and didn't harm me in any way. Hope your daughter gets better soon.

Thanks for the reassurance. The lumpiness seems to be disappearing now but not sure about the redness.
