Scarlet fever . I've sent an email to the school to tell them incase they want to tell the parents. What else should I do? He's got some antibiotics and I'm keeping him in the house for 2 days. Another fab birthday!

have no way of getting to gp's (no car, 5 miles away) so don't think emergancy docs would appreciate me caling them out for something that appears to be better now when i didn't call them for the 41deg fever

don't judge, both my kids get these fevers every few months, no other symptoms and they're better in a day... whenever i do bring them to the docs they're invariably better by the time we get into the docs office and i look a bit mad sitting there with a prefectly healthy child

anyway, i'm sure i'm just being paranoid.

hope your ds clears up soon, poor mite. don't worry about the other kids, like others have said, apparently it only causes strp throat in most people so i doubt he's have given it to anyone.

They started off pink, then got a bit darker then went back to pink and have now faded. His eyes went red/bloodshot for all of 30 minutes, he had a funny coloured tongue yesterday (purple) but this didn't last long. I was expecting the GP to say it was a virus.

I'm not judging. It's a bit like the boy who cried wolf though. I'm overprotective anyway, I spent 2 years training as a paeds nurse (ds's rash didn't look anything like the pictures, hence the thinking it was a viral rash ), I've seen all sorts. It makes you worry over the little things. I'm glad I did take him though, I was going to wait and see. The sore throat is a give away though.

hmm, well ds's had definitely almost all gone this evening as have been checking him every half hour since the rash developed. would have caled docs on sat but he was really perky and cheerful and insisted 'i not sore. i not itchy. i not sick' when grilled.

really need to stop googling now as i've disgnosed us all with about 20 other infections in the last few minutes

No sore throat then. Boys will tell you it hurts and will feel sorry for themselves. It's genetic .
