Help needed Re Broken foot. Conflicted advice!

Hiya,
Had a thread on here last week about chipping the bone in my foot and damaging ligaments around ankle.

A and E doctor mentioned that I should keep soft plaster bandage on for 7 to 10 days, but no referral to fracture clinic. Should walk on it asap.

Rang out of hours doctors last weekend for stronger painkillers, and they told me not to talk on it and would need bandage on for much longer than that said.

Saw my own GP last week, who took bandage off and replaced it with a normal creape bandage (whih does nothing for it!), and he thinks I should be under the fracture clinic.

Rang out of hours again today, needed stronger pain reflief, who told me I need to have my foot higher than my hip, not to use it (really easy with two dc ), and to use painrelief as a course.

Need to see Gp this week for stronger painrelief (only on paracetamol and ibuprofen).

So, are any of them correct? What should I do? I am in agony at present with my foot.

I'm with the Other Witch. Defo go back and expain how painful it is, nag for crutches and keep it elevated and rested as much as poss.

Rest
Ice (usually in initial injury period, less effective now if you did it a week ago)
Compression (Tubigrip bandage)
Elevation

A small chip and a sprain wouldn't usually warrant a fracture clinic appointment, but if it was a large chip or in an odd place then maybe.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen taken regularly should help, but if not then codeine-based meds eg co-codamol (Solpadol) could be taken.

Thanks for the advice.

Getting some co-codamol today, hopefully that will help!

I did the same thing 2 weeks ago, and foot/ ankle is still dodgy.

A+E doctor may be very junior

GP may not be very experienced in fractures (and crepe abndages are crap for compression, they lose their stretch after about an hour), so...

If very sore, back to A+E and ask for another plaster bandage, if very sore, ask for a fracture clinic appointment.
