Any doctors around? 2yo complaining of leg pain at the end of Chicken Pox

DS is 2.3 and has chicken pox - first spots came out on Sunday. Seems to be progressing normally, not too ill with it, and was looking much better the last couple of days.

Now he's suddenly really tired and miserable again and is complaining that one of his legs hurts, around the knee.

Should I worry? He was playing fine this morning but then got really tired and miserable, no appetite for lunch and crying in pain in a way I've never seen before.

Why do these things always come on on a Sunday?

anyone? don't tell me I have to ring NHSDirect, they'll just say 'if you're worried go to A&E....'

I'd take him to Aand E and bypass NHS direct who are so long winded.

If he's crying in pain, I'd take him straight away. Is there any chanc has hurt his knee?

Thanks fizzbuzz - He went to sleep for a bit after I posted then woke up crying again - I gave him some Calpol and he's now sitting up quite happily watching Cbeebies, but doesn't want to get out of bed.

when he woke up he said his leg hurt and when I asked if anything else hurt, he said 'everything!'

poor lamb.

i think I'm going to keep an eye on him this pm and see how he does and take him to the docs in the mornng.

Chicken pox can cause joint pain, maybe this is what he has but I wouldn't say this for certain. I would phone NHS Direct and request that he's seen by the out of hours GP service.

He seems to be fine since the Calpol so I think I'll leave it until tomorrow and see the doc in the morning. I hate those out of hours services, they never seem to be much use.
